Bottle from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark copper with a slight yellow/beige head. Aroma of toasted malt and fruity hop. Full bodied. Frothy carb. Flavor is pine/citrus/earth with a roast malt backdrop. This is a very nicely done ale.

Draft at Pizza Port San Clemente. Thanks to the bartender for having me try this before a sample pour. Pours a golden blond to straight golden. Aroma is cinnamon and some more barrel to pine aroma. Taste is way too sweet to an odd caramel taste. Overall, meh. Another time I was glad I got the house beers.

Dark red pour with disapating white head. Aroma is citrus and juicy smelling. Really unusual tasting IPA. Really has a fruity but good taste to it. Definitely hoppy. Slighly bitter. I like it, different than most IPA

Bottle: Poured deep red. An off white frothy and sticky head stands up long enough to snap an instagram photo. Nose is citrus, grapefruit rind, pith, toasty malts, caramels, toffee, breads, some pines and resinous hop grease. Flavor is again quite the heavy malt and caramel/toffee profile but not oxidized. Flavor is also sweet and has some citrus, pine, and orangey hops mixed in. Lightly sweet finish and a solid amount of bitterness. Good beer but I could have asked for less malt or caramel flavors for an IPA.

Tap at Strand Brewing. Pours clear orange with a medium, frothy off-white head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is pear and peach esters with biscuit and straw malt, citrus and pine hops. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness with supporting malt, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Sample at Pizza Port San Clemente. Hazy amber-golden color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is citrusy with some hop and malt notes. Medium body with a moderately bitter citrus hops character and notes of bready malt and a touch of pine. The finish is hoppy with a short grapefruit aftertaste. Decent overall.
