1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Displayed as 7% and 66 IBUs. Rustic light amber in color, with a fluffy white head. Aroma of soggy jalapeno and other spicy greens, some biscuit malts. Taste was much the same, unfortunately. Peppery notes, over-grassy hops, some bitter spinach or some spicy green pepper. Bitterness was subdued, just kinda there. Not too keen on these kinds of IPAs.

draft. filtered copper; small head. wet and soggy crackers and oat malt nose with wet vegetal, flabby aromatic hops. mildly sweet approach. vitamin chalkiness and mint/lemon/herb yeast and hop flavor. seems like a poorly formed recipe.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pint at the brewery on September 16, 2010. Deep orange, almost lightly amber in color with a thin white head. It has a nice, fresh hop aroma, almost soapy though. For 66 IBU it has a nice hop profile, but almost tastes like there’s some sort of hop extract in it. Very concentrated for 66 IBU. Huh. Very resinous. It has a thin, bitter finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a rather dark red - more malt-forward than most American ipas, along the lines of Victory Hop Devil - malts are medium-sweet, with some bready quality to them - copious earthy hops, but, much like their pale ale, their flavor takes more prominence than their bitterness, creating a decent balance - a bit of grapefruit pith - a decent, balanced IPA, but nothing stand-out.
