BlackForestCO (977) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - APR 7, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Poured a clear yellow-copper color with a moderate off-white head that slowly faded to a layer and left some large spotty lacing. Aroma of dank, leafy hops paired with some citrus fruitiness (orange, tangerine) and some pine. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some soft honey and orange lead into a moderately bitter, leafy hoppiness with a moderate pine that lingers into the finish where it is paired with some soft citrus fruitiness. Low carbonation and moderate mouth feel with a nice dry bite from the hops. Pretty nice apa.

Part of my sampler tray at my first visit to Strange. Pales in comparison to the Zora but a good session able pale. Could use a little more hop aggression for my palate.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is golden with a fluffy white head and great lacing. Light grapefruit, biscuit, orange, pine, and grass in the aroma. Taste is orange peel, citrus, grapefruit, resin, and bread with a medium bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. Not bad.

On Tap at the brewery. Pour is golden in appearance with a white head and good lacing. Grapefruit, citrus, light grass, grain, and corn in the aroma. Taste is somewhat watered down grass, grapefruit, cereal, and biscuit with a medium bitter finish. Light body with high carbonation. Easy to drink, but pretty boring, nothing really off-putting but just kind of bleh.

Part of a flight at the brewery. Bright, clear dark orange pour with a bit of a head. Citrus hops and a sweet malt backbone, finishing with a bitter hop presence. Medium-bodied. Very similar to Dale’s Pale Ale, only more drinkable.
