COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Within the strangest existence, there is great depth of character. Such is indeed the case for the Albino MONKey. Ordained in the traditional order of Belgian wheat beers, Albino MONKey’s wheat malt backbone is shrouded only by its sublimely complex sweetness. Its motives in its offerings of spicy hops, coriander, orange peel and white pepper spices need not be understood to be appreciated. Simply follow its divine path. Your obedience will be rewarded.

Sample at Station 2. Hazy yellow color with a medium white head that evaporates steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of banana, wheat and spice. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal yeast, citrus and bananas. The finish is wheaty with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle gifted by one of the founders. Thanks! Yeasty, crackery malt, honey, coriander, orange peel. Some white pepper, a little overly bitter for the style.

Sampled at the brewery and at restaurants in the area. Pours is hazy, typical of wheat beers. Medium white head. Aroma is slightly estery, some notes of fruit. Pleasantly bitter, perhaps a bit more than normal for style, with some spice and pepper. Lingering bitterness on palate.

Draft at Strangeways. Cloudy gold. Aroma is slightly spicy with lots of wheat, sweet malt and soft citrus. Taste is sweet malt, abundant wheat, spice notes, light banana, citrus and yeast. Body is light with a fizzy carbonation. Ends with more sweet malt toasted wheat, light citrus, yeast and soft spice.

Poured as a 2 oz sampler at Virginia Beer Live 2013. Funky smell, citrus front, wheat finish.

Draft: Strong aroma of overripe lemon, feet, and coriander, with the latter surprisingly subtle. Opaque amber, thin head. Coriander is more prominent on the palate, yeastiness is more subtle, and there is a strong grass, mint, and lemon zest hop presence. Very hoppy wit, tasty, but not very true to style if that matters to you.
