tomthompson89 (1148), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 21, 2007 again will say im happy they r trying new things actually enjoyed this beer, not quite where a porter should be but definatly getting there, nice amount of head, decent hop nose, lotsa malts and some decent hops on the finish gilvanblight (341), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Mar 27, 2006 Rusty brown pour with a foamy thick lasting head. Hoppy spicy scent. A tad watery with not much body. There is some flavour, mostly bitter hops and a bit of spice. Hoppy bitterness really grows in the finish. A nice Candian Craft, reminds more of a Pale Ale though. MrManning (1448), London, Ontario, Canada Mar 1, 2006 Updated: Nov 29, 2006On tap at the Alex P Keaton in London, Ontario- Dark mahogony body with little light penetrating, creating a rouge tint. Mild roasty notes with some coffee, minerals, and sour milk. Watered down roasted malt flavours with a slight hops bitterness that balances a mild sweetness, but there’s something here I don’t enjoy too much. Thin for a porter, perhaps it’s closer to a Dunkel? Mild chestnut aftertaste, with some lingering mineral sweetness. GregClow (2350), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 21, 2006 Draught at Volo. Ruby-brown color - looks more like a nut brown or dark lager than a porter. Aroma is mildly roasty, with a slight sourness. Body is very thin for the style. Flavour is the highlight - it’s pleasant and roasty, with a bit of chocolate in the finish - but it doesn’t save this from being a sub-average example of the style. blankboy (2625), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 20, 2006 Draught at Smokeless Joe. Pours a clear dark auburn-brown with a small light-brown head. Very mild aroma of malt, fruit and brown sugar -- not really any Porter characteristics to speak of. Flavour, also mild, has some roasted malt, some fruit, caramel and a very light bitterness. It doesn’t taste bad but I’ll be damned if this is a Porter, so it has to lose points for that. Light bodied. Given the option I’d take this over most of the macro crap we get but next to the many fantastic micro beers we have it pales in comparison.
