3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in July 2012. Cask, handpump dispense. Black in colour with ruby highlights and a thin creamy buff head. Slight dusty drinking chocolate powder note in the short aroma. Thin watery mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malts give a maltloaf base with chicory, plain chocolate and roast grain notes present. Dry hop flowers noted in the dusty citrusy aftertaste. Finish is dry with tart bramble fruit and weak coffee notes present in the mouth. An ok session mild from Strathaven but still prefer Trumpeter though.

Light sweet flavor with mild roasted malt character, further milk chocolate, slight earth, dried berries, chalky cocoa. Light bodied with fine carbonation; great condition.
