This beer didn’t have too much flavor for being a dark beer. Pretty smooth and watery but i know there is a lot of love that goes into making this.

12oz bottle. Purchased while travelling. Nothing great here but it’s always fun to try regional beers that you can’t buy elsewhere and it’s always good when they are actually drinkable.

Aroma very faint aroma , malty , fruity scent , hint of barley.
Appearance not very dark , amber shaded brew with light fizzy top..
Flavor and Palate : Mid bodied , slight creaminess , golden and hint of darker malt behind. Underdeveloped work.

Draft: Poured a dark reddish brown with an off white head, served too cold for much of an aroma, but once it warmed it was of light caramel malt and some nuts, flavor was definitely lacking, but there was some sweet malt, and a hint of bread, and quite a bit of water.

This is the best of the straub beers. Its name is decieving. The beers color resembles that of an amber. The beer caries the same taste of their light and premium beers. Just a Tad bit better brewed. Its has a buttery nutty taste.

pours a very small off-white head , fair lacing , cloudy body, and a fine amber color. smell of grain malt,. very refreshing for a dark beer

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark amber body with a minimal light beige head that faded to a thin ring very quickly. The nose is very unclean, there’s a lot of grainy and husky malt with some creamed corn undertones. The flavor is pretty light, just a bit of corn sweetness and light caramel with minimal hoppiness. Light to medium bodied with very fizzy forced carbonation. Decent enough to finish the whole bottle, but I wouldn’t want a whole case of this sitting around.

Amber color with a thin dissipating white head. A little malt in there and pretty bitter. Great session beer. I’m a fan.

OK, I really wanted to like this beer. It’s from a small brewery in Pa, making beer for years, has a decent "cult" following, and is surviving amongst the industry giants. Sorry to say, nothing all too good to report on this one. Pours a dark, amber color with some reddish hues. Tan head that doesn’t last too long, and it appears to be somewhat fizzy - more like a root beer than a beer. Not much nose to speak of, what is there is a light malt fragrance. The flavor is somewhat like a weak root beer with a light touch of hops. Very thin for a dark lager. Straub’s has been around for quite some time, and my guess is that if they really wanted to, they could make an excellent dark beer; but alas, this is not it.

Pours a golden amber with a quick to fade white head. Aromas of light toffee, caramel, some nut, touch of grain and hop. Flavors are mild of light caramel, hops, and grain. Watery. Sort of just plain bland. Sort of refreshing and crisp.
