Straub is advertised as no additional additives or preservatives. Always on the fresh side. The beer is made only 2 hours from Pittsburgh. Crisp, clean, light and refreshing taste. There is some what, rice, and corn flakes. The taste has some other enjoyable notes of oats and other grains.. Sweet flavor in the finish. Very enjoyable for the summer. Again, affordable local beer.

Sadly micro brew and craft brew arenít the same thing. This is a small companies version of bud light as far as I can tell. No nose whatsoever, looks like fizzy yellow beer. Little taste or palate to speak of. The numbers arenít all "1" because it the lowest scores (in my mind) are reserved for things that taste BAD. This didnít taste bad, it didnít taste like anything.

Clear yellow color with a medium white head. Lot of carbonation. The flavor was kind of watered down with a slight grassy finish. Overall, not too bad.

12 oz can. Pours a light yellow with a white head and nice CO2 release. Aroma is like other pale lagers. Taste is mellow and balanced. Great session beer for those hot days.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2012 A very typical pale lager. All grains and a weak taste. The plus is that it isnít skunky. Definitely drinkable, but not very complex.

12 oz can.
A nice grainy pale malt aroma, you will note a hint of hops.
Watery a bit, but refreshing.
A pale golden color - kinda looks like Coors in the glass,

12oz green bottle from zathrus--thanks Jeff. Bottled 06/20/10. Sweet malt and grain nose with some paper oxidation. Clear golden with a 1/2 finger white head, typical pale lager retention--low. Flavor is grainy with some sweet malt again, not really getting the paper oxidation as much. Finishes clean with scant bitterness. Light to moderate carbonation, light body. Decent pale lager.

Bottle: Pours a pale yellow with a white film of head. Dry bready aroma with some straw and skunked hops. Light fizzy body. Papery vacant flavor. Not overly sweet, but not much hop bitterness at all. Quite oxidized as well. If I hadnít held onto this bottle for such a long time itíd be a drinkable pale lager preferable to Bud/Miller/Coors.

The pessimist in me was wary of the phrase "all grain beer". Corn was noticeable in the aroma, and not a whole lot else. But the optimist in me found an ice cold Straub refreshing, and while itís rather weak, itís not all bad.

Bottle from my neighbor. Clear gold, fluffy white head. Nose is grassy hops, some sweet malt, corn/dms. Flavor is dms, sweet malt, a bit grassy, some metallic notes. Overly sweet - reminds me of what I thought beer *was* as a kid.
