12oz green bottle from zathrus--thanks Jeff. Bottled 06/20/10. Sweet malt and grain nose with some paper oxidation. Clear golden with a 1/2 finger white head, typical pale lager retention--low. Flavor is grainy with some sweet malt again, not really getting the paper oxidation as much. Finishes clean with scant bitterness. Light to moderate carbonation, light body. Decent pale lager.

Bottle: Pours a pale yellow with a white film of head. Dry bready aroma with some straw and skunked hops. Light fizzy body. Papery vacant flavor. Not overly sweet, but not much hop bitterness at all. Quite oxidized as well. If I hadn’t held onto this bottle for such a long time it’d be a drinkable pale lager preferable to Bud/Miller/Coors.

The pessimist in me was wary of the phrase "all grain beer". Corn was noticeable in the aroma, and not a whole lot else. But the optimist in me found an ice cold Straub refreshing, and while it’s rather weak, it’s not all bad.

Bottle from my neighbor. Clear gold, fluffy white head. Nose is grassy hops, some sweet malt, corn/dms. Flavor is dms, sweet malt, a bit grassy, some metallic notes. Overly sweet - reminds me of what I thought beer *was* as a kid.

12 ounce can from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear medium golden color with a thin head. Fair head retention and poor lacing. Fairly straightforward toasted malt aroma with a faint grassy finish. The taste is grassy with some apple like fruit notes and faint malts in the finish. Thin bodied. Not bad for a macro lager.

bottle - Pours clear yellow and has a sugary, corn aroma. The flavor is mild, sweet, and sugary and that’s about it for this light bodied brew. The label bills it as "100% grain". I wondered how that’s a bragging point. I would hope no commercial brewer is using malt extract, so if by 100% grain they mean no extract, I thought, well duh. They don’t claim to be all malt. Grain could include additives like corn and rice. I suspect corn in this one. Anyway, this beer sucks.

Aroma grainy pale malt aroma, hint of hop. Plain.5-
Appearance golden with good well shown white top.
Flavor and Palate : Mid bodied. Same issue as with Straub light – plenty of diacetyl here. Beyond that straight lager with subpar qualities.

Can. Tarheels knows I bring my A-game when it comes to tasting. Pours golden with a white head. Flavor is bland, but I detect less adjuncts than a similarly styled nameless AB product. Not bad for the price, but I’d rather go for PBR for my getting drunk beer.

Can thanks to tastybeer! Dude is busting out some rarities! Straub pours a clear straw with actually a dense, rocky, two-finger, eggshell head that has excellent retention and spotty lace. Apple cinnamon aroma- mmmm. Taste is almost non-existent. Sort of like an N/A beer. Watery, semi-sweet, most void of any character. Unoffensive. Not bad for $17 for a 24 pack.

This beer is their average beer. It has the exact same characteristics as their light. It has the same buttery nutty taste.
