Pours a pale yellow color. Smell is skunky, could be the green bottle. Taste is crisp, malts and grains, slightly sweet. Overall a pretty standard pale lager.

bottle @ The Andersonís / Columbus OH --- Clear light amber color, smooth white one-finger head, a few lace dots. Aroma of malt and corn, which I always find appealing. Taste is sweet malt, corn, and grass that moves without change to a carbonated swallow. Iím sure there are hops, but I canít detect them. A simple lawn mower beer, light, not at all filling. I think it is true to its mission, which is: "light, thin, drink several of them" simple.

Bottle. Light corn and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet corn syrup and barley malt flavor. Light bitter hay finish. One of the featured beers at the 1983 GABF - must have sucked being a beer drinker back then. Luckily I waited until 1984 to start.

Bottle: Pours clear gold with a small, white head. Slight grain scent. Taste is honeyed, barley malt. Thatís about it..... Nothing awful, just a rather dull, grassy plain lager...............watery.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance had a semi-light bronzed yellow color with a two finger bubbly and moderately foamy (in the middle) white head. The lacing was somewhat there but slid for the most part. The smell had a light sweet corn to it but there wasnít much else. The taste followed the aroma. On the palate, this one sat fairly light on the body with a decent sessionable quality to it. The carbonation seemed appropriate for the style and for me. There was a decent smooth and crisp sweet corn finish. Overall, decent pale lager that I tend to have whenever I visit relatives in PA and not a bad budget beer.

Straub American Lager has a thin-to-medium, white head, a rather hazy, yellow-gold appearance, noticeable white sediment suspended throughout, lots of streaming bubbles, and some splotchy lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, biscuity malt and grassy hops. The flavor is of those elements, with a tiny hop bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Straub American Lager finishes crisp and refreshing, but a little flat on flavor. RJT

Clear golden colored body with a thin white head and sparse lacing. Lightly sweet grainy cereals, some citrus and stone fruits. Medium to light bodied, smooth carbonation, lightly sweet finish. Relatively clean and straightforward.

Bottle. Looks very light and pale. Light, crisp, sweet flavor, bread, corn. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet musky grains.

Transfer from BA and reviewed on 2-6-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass while watching the super bowl. Appearance - A pale golden color with a white head. The head fades rather quickly leaving very little lacing. Smell - Sweeter malt of corn and a bit of caramel is most predominant at first. A bit later however, some hop aroma works its way in with some floral and more earthy aromas. Taste - A sweet corn maltiness first meets the tongue. The more subtle flavor then of comparable priced american lagers is quite pleasant and not overbearing. Toward the end of the taste, some of the hoppiness that is present in the nose comes into the taste as well. Really not too bad. Mouthfeel - Very average turbidity and carbonation level. Very drinkable, but nothing exceptional. Overall - A very easy drinking session beer. Nothing to be savored, but a good brew for football tailgating and/or watching the game. Somehow it just seems right for it.
