Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, 30 April 2009. Although there was some confusion, it appears that the beer on offer at the festival was Stringers No 2 Stout, not Stringers Dry Stout as shown in the programme. Pitch black. Beige head. Almost opaque. Good condition. Big roast aroma. Lots of chocolate - smooth but firm. Loads of body. Excellent stuff.

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 6 Aug 2009) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Roasted, malty taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa and a firm coffee bitterness in the dry finish. Rather light body. Very nice stout and seriously drinkable with a fairly low abv.

Cask at Market Porter, London. Pous dark brown with a medium, beige head. Holds a dark, hard malt nose, with light cocoa and roast. Bittersweet flavor, a bit ashy, with some char and bitter, dark chocolate. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. The finish is very dry and roasty, with mild, malty sugars and lingering peat and earth impressions. Solid stout.

Yummy yummy yummy far too drinkable. Lovely aroma. Rich flavours, some chocolate, treacle and heavy malt but lifted by a light to mediumj body with just enough carbonation to carry it all off.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Nottingham BF. A black stout with a nice beige head. The aroma is dry and roasty and particularly inviting, whereas there is some fruit in the mouth. A well brewed tasty stout.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 09. Also known as No. 2 stout. One of the best beers of the first day. Black, big lasting tan head. Very roasty aroma. Very roasted overall. I liked it. Good fullness, lovely dark choc and I would happily recommend this to any Raterbeerian

Cask at the Beer Emporium, Bristol. Black in colour with an average size, lasting tan colour head. Aroma of malt, roasted chocolate and peat. Rather dry feel. Body is medium-full, slick texture, with soft carbonation. Enjoyable beer.

Cask@GBBF 2009. Dark ruby, almost opaque color, tiny beige head. Intensive aroma of licorice, a bit sweet. Flavor is not as intensive, but it has dark malts, ash and licorice. Nice toasted aftertaste. Good one.

Gravity at Birmingham Beer Festival 2011. Nice, thick malt smell. Opaque. Roasty bar-be-que taste. Meaty. Dry bacon finish. Hearty.
