Bottled 05/05/13. An orange gold coloured beer with no head. Nice strong and hoppy. An amarillo like spicy sting in the mouth. Sticky oranges on the nose. Malts verge towards being too sweet and make it a bit too chewy bit otherwise it’s pretty decent.

Bottle from Booth’s- no mention of Victoria. Clear bronze with a loose, subsiding white foam. Aroma of rose and strawberry jelly; slight butter, straw, just-rubbed Fuggles;some peachy, crystal-malt laden US IPA leanings. Husky and biscuit base topped with berry fruit, stewed tea, generous marmalade bitterness. Good lingering aftertaste with oily nut and deep grassy hop notes. Celery hints. Solid.

Bright clear amber beer, tidy white head. Smooth palate, a little crisp and semi dry. Trace of pale malt. Bitter hops - with a little marmalade and lemon. Finishes semi dry with what feels like infinite bitter linger! Okay if a bit harsh.

Cask @ The Earl of Essex. Cheers to Leighton for the pour! The appearance is deep amber with a small off-white head. The aroma’s of rich wood, leather, some woodland earthiness and red apple skin. The taste is cherry pit, more rich woody oak, toasted malts with a touch of grass on the finish. Medium body, a bit thin in profile. Overall, I didn’t like this very much. The flavors were somewhat incongruous.

Cask at the Earl of Essex, London. Pours clear gold with a strong, white cream head. Nose holds dry straw, dry orange. Light to medium sweet flavor, some dry leaves, grass, toasty pale malts. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry, toasty leaf finish, further notes of dry orange. An OK effort at an IPA.

Aroma: Lots of caramel on the nose. Pine and grapefruit.

Appearance: Clear, bright amber body with a generous beige head that slowly fades to nothing. Medium carbonation. Slight lacing.

Taste: Caramel, biscuit and woody flavours dominate. The tropical fruit notes are in there somewhere, but they’re quite subdued. Finishes with a gentle bitterness.

Palate: Medium body with a soft, oily texture. Light carbonation.

Overall: Not as fruity or tropical as I was anticipating from the description on the bottle, but this is still very tasty. Looking forward to trying more Stringers beers.

Bottle at home. Reddish copper orange, thin bubbly off-white head fades to a loose top. Soft orange peel, peaches, slight grapefruit nose. Light toffee, biscuit malts, juicy grapefruit. Soft bitterness. Slightly thin, but OK.

500ml bottle from Ales by Mail. Poured with a creamy, lacy off-white head; deep clear amber body. Certainly darker than a typical IPA impression. Thick caramel/toffee aroma. Crystal malts dominate the otherwise decent amarillo hoppiness. Has that heavy sweet maltiness about it. Caramel, biscuit & grassy, lightly citric hop. Floral sweetness. Medium body, medium caramel with a bittersweet finish. Suffers from the somewhat overbearing use of crystal malt.

Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest ’12. Hazy gold with slight head. Dry and fairly packed with citrusy hops, lasting, refreshing, good depth, zesty pithy and refreshing. Good stuff.
