In my opinion, Strohís is the best of the national brands when it comes to premium American pilsners. This beer has a deeper malt flavor, almost caramelized, with noticable hops character and flavor. Just look at the results from the Great American Beer Festival over the years. Strohís has consistently been rated at or near the top of the pile. Why would the masses continue to pay higher prices for Bud or Miller? Strohís is far superior to both in every category. Iím sad to say that this beer could well lose its extra character after Pabst moves all production to Miller breweries on a contract basis. Say goodbye to fire brewing and hello Miller flavor. How sad! This was once one of the greatest American breweries. I still love Strohís for nostalgiaís sake. One of my favorite everyday beers in college and of all time.

Good old strohs. Detroitís premium beer. Solid beer for a solid night of beer drinking.

There isnít much to this beer, Iíll admit, but then, on a hot summer afternoon at Comerica Park in Detroit, you donít need much.

Perhaps the best of the ínameí American macrobrews. Despite the classy design on the can, it doesnít look all that great in the glass. But going down is another story. This crisp, refreshing beer starts out subtle and just rolls on in. Ends with a different, somewhat sweet taste that actually works (but Iím guessing would not if the beer isnít cold). A shame that this one is doomed to suffocate under Pabst ownership.
