On tap. Aroma very smoky, peat, smoked meat, wood, earth and dark malt. Taste is also very smoky, some dried fruit, wood and soil, some mineral-like notes. Finish is nice and smoky.

Bottle. Hazy brown, thin head. Compact smoky aroma, and the smoke dominates the flavour, too. Some malty body here, but it is very dominated by the peat - the hops are not allowed to shine. Nice, but it is a bit off balance for my liking.

En komplex och ambitiös öl . Fin arom och vacker färg , men jag har bars lite svårt med räkenskapsår i öl !

Sampled at GBWF13-Dradt and 6,2% @ the festival: Hazy red colour,, almost flat head. Aroma is dominated of lots of smkeynesss, and sweet maltynes! Flavor had a burned mouth feeling, and tar, and some fruitynes. the dominans was weerry smokey, mixed with with some sournes(?)!

2012 edition, 330ml bottle with 5,9% ABV. A nice interpretion of a Rauchbier , but too a bit too gentle. With all the references to Islay whiskies I expected loads of peat, but no. Still a pretty ok beer though.

Årgång 2011. Mörk brun med lite rött i sig, ganska stort och tätt lätt färgat skum. Doft: Rök, rökt korv, ved, jord. Smak: Rök, mineraler, torkad frukt, kaffe, jord. Satte först 6 på smak men höjde till 7 pga den trevliga och lagoma rök eftersmaken.

Bottle. Dark red-brown colour with a large brown head. Smoke and fruit aroma. Flavour is heavy on the smoke, sausage.

Aroma: The smell is burned wood and leather. A lingering newly lit matches reveales some sulfur. Sour wet felt.
Appearance: The beer is clear dark redbrown with hints of red, a small tan head with some lacing and good curtains.
Taste: The old burned wood taste is dominating, a bit of cutlery and dried dark fruits,some bread sweetness.
Palate: Mediumcarbonation, small bubbles, soft and smooth, a medium body, a slow dry finish.
Overall: A bit too much sour smoke for me.

Smak och doft av aska, malt, rök, järnvägsslipers. Spännande och kärv med egen karaktär. Nu gillar jag rököl men Malakias är aningen för söt för att det ska bli en riktig höjdare.

Pours dark, hazy amber with a small head that dissolves quickly.
Smoky, leathery, peaty and sweet malty aroma
Taste has smoke, leather, peat sweet malts, some sweet/honey notes and a small peppery punch at the end.
After taste is long, quite unusual for a smoked beer. I guess the bitter hops helped with that.
Thicker and oilier than most smoked beers I’ve had. Nice one but a bit to expensive for what it is.
