Draft at The Dubliner. Clear pale yellow. Aroma of apple skins and lemon peel. Taste is dilute fruit juice and lemon. No, I don’t think so.

Pours gold into an English pint. Bright white head crackles and recedes to skim surface. Apple skin aromas. Soft with mild apple front to back. Really nothing special going on here...

FROTHINGSLOSH (3205) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 9, 2011
Sampled from a 12 oz clear bottle this cider poured a golden color with a trace white head that faded quickly. The aroma was dry, a bit nutty and had a faint apple presence with touches of yeast, spice and champagne. The flavor was dry, tart champagne and apple. Short tart finish. Light body. Subpar.

500 ml can.
Pours a clear, light yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma of apple with some bite. Flavour of mild tart apples, lime and wet wood. Light bodied with a slick mouthfeel. Dry apple finish. Basic but well done.

440ml can bought at Sainsbury’s. Pale gold with plenty of fizz. Sweet, baked apple aroma. Flavour was vaguely appley with plenty of sugar and a syrupy finish. Just as well I only paid 20p for it.

I have tried to appreciate real ciders, I really have. I have bought these flat, sour, complex and hazy things from a barn in the middle of a field on the english countryside, but I’m a simple man when it comes to ciders, I prefer the gentle and simple ones. Strongbow is golden yellow with a pure aroma and flavour of apples. Half dry, average carbonation.
