On tap at Sports Column last week before a Rockies game. Gold and clear appearance with a white head and a touch of lacing. A heavily sweet apple flavor with hints of pear and vanilla. Sweet and not dry. OK overall.

Cidre or cider is not only a girls drink any more. This is quite tasty and has a good aftertaste. Reminds me of Apple Wine or a slightly off apple juice (in a good way). Certainly a pub alternative.

1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Too bad the reformulation opted to this very sweet result. The dryness of the former product, in my mind, was a particular style of cider. If Heineken want to appeal to the masses, simply add this "golden apple" or "gold" variety. Enough on this. The sweetness is not extreme, but at the same time it appeal to those with more of a "juice-box" pallet. The good news is that there are other dry ciders out there.

.33l bottle in Belgrade. As ’Gold Apple’. Quite pale, a little more dry than Carling. Still sweet, pulpy apple body. Very commercial.
