4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A 2009 33cl bottle obtained through a friend. Stunning label by Hornsleth! Pours tar black with hardly any head. Intense aroma and very sticky to the mouth. What a special unpasteurized beer with a for me very interesting body! Roast, coffee, nuts, burnt wood, honey. Sticky as hell, this 15ABV barrel aged mead (analogue to the Viking honey wine) beer is a winner in it’s category! ***

1.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Bottle @ Post EBBC14 tasting at Norseman Big thanks to BeersIveKnown for sharing the beers!
Pitch black, engine oil, thin tan head
Aroma of dirty meaty malts, big savoury malts, stinky blue cheese
Taste - Thick honey loaded with tons of burnt wood, cigarette ash, burnt coal, absolutely disgusting and undrinkable
Palate - No carb, full body, massive sweet, very burnt, acrid. Finish was extremely dry and massively astringent
Overall - A few drops of this vile muck on my tongue - no way I’d drink this shit. F*king horrendous. Best to just look at it and smell it. One of the worst liquids to ever pass my lips. YYYEEEEEUUUUCCCCCCHHHHH!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. A black one, really, really black, with a small, dense, dark tan head. It’s very coffee-ish in the aroma, with licorice, charcoal, booze, some coconut and vanilla and a touch of dark sugar and berriess. Not much honey detected in the nose, but in the flavor there’s lots of mead-ish honey. Coffee, bonfire, licorice and sweetness. Warming and full-bodied, with sweet, honeyish finish. Coffee too. Pretty nice this one, feels sort of like a coffee imp stout, but it’s much more sweet. Think I like it. 140420

Bottle into Teku glass. Super thick and black, lovely dark small head, smells of tar, licorice, honey and chocolate carrying through to the palate that explodes with ash with a very late almost astringent finish. Very unique mead unique anything I’ve tried. This is a warm fireplace friend....very nice!!!!
