COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Danish: Espresso Rye Stout.

Bottle... Pours clear and dark brown with copper highlights and a small, brief off-white head. The aroma offers burnt, spicy and grainy notes. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. The flavor is bold, charred and medium-bitter with deep-roastiness and the rye’s spicy graininess. Bottle courtesy of Plovmand!

Pours a viscous, black body with a unusually large head for the style. The head is creamy, medium brown, long-lived and laces the glass excellently. Strong, malty, very dark roasted and sweet aroma of dark caramel, chocolate and coffee with ash in the back. Strong flavour of dark roasted malt, dark caramel and coffee beans with a herbal, vegetal and green sting. Full body, oily and creamy texture, soft to moderate carbonation. A superb beer, but I prefer the coffee to be a little less vegetal.

Bottle split at LKS’s, 02/09/14, from Bottledog. Black with a well appointed dirty tan covering that quickly dissipates to spotting and edgework. Nose is earthy and roasty, amaretto, coffee, chocolate biscuits, light spice. Taste comprises coffee grinds, earthy roast, chocolate fudge, spice, tangy dark fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent stout - Spec Grain my arse!

Leighton (11641) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 2, 2014
Bottle shared in London - many thanks to C-Note. Pours oily black with a tight, creamy beige head. The nose has rich chocolate, burnt malts, charred meat. Medium sweet flavor with bitter torched wood, dried dark fruits, strong bitter earth, baking cocoa. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lingering charred wood finish, some oily chocolate, scorched earth, burnt wood, some licorice, raisins. Fairly punchy but not bad.
