Uncaged Stout
An easy drinking stout. Velvet on the palate with a complexity of fruity dark malt flavours to follow.

Aroma: Buttery, chocolate and roasted malt aroma. Not very powerful.

Appearance: Jet black body with a medium light brown head that gradually fades. Slight lacing.

Taste: Roasted malts, vanilla and milk chocolate.

Palate: Thin body with a watery texture. Average carbonation.

Overall: Pleasant and easy drinking but not particularly flavourful.

Bottle 50cl (bough at organic shop). Opaque black with red hue, small tan head, vanishes after a while but fair lacing; aroma moderate roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dough, brown sugar; mild bittersweet taste; medium body, thin creamy texture, soft carbonation; dry and mild bittersweet finish, some roastiness lingers on. Nice stout but lacks character.

Very barley nose with dark malt, smells very natural and grainy but none of the roastiness or chocolate / coffee I might expect, a bit ’green’. Black. A very natural, slightly liquorice, again ’green’ sort of flavour. Like freshly picked coffee unroasted. Quite sweet and syrupy in a way as well as being dry. Could be better but the simple / natural / ’organic’ flavours do work well.

This is a basic nice beer, aroma is pleasant, but mild. Black beer and decent head. Taste is too mild but not bad. Palate is a bit too watery. Not sexy but not bad either

Bottled. An brown beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and over ripe fruits, leadi g to a dry fnish.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Josh. Almost clear brown beer. Small cream coloured head. Light semi dry palate. Mild dark malts, slightly tangy. Super light roast. Light dry finish. Tasty enough.

Scopey (7052) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 10, 2013
Bottle thanks to Josh. It pours deep brown with a small off-white head. The nose is earthy, toast, cola, brown sugar, ash and light smoke. The taste is caramel, cola, earth, toast, soft roast and brown bread with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Straight-forward stout action.

Bottle from some organic shop. Nothing much needed to say here besides the fact it’s not bad and it’s not great. Pretty stick standard roasty stuff

Leighton (11299) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 5, 2013
Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - big thanks to Josh. Gusher! Pours clear brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has dry chocolate, well toasted brown bread. Light sweet flavor with mellow cocoa, brown bread, slight dry earthy bitterness. Light bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Dry cocoa finish, soft roasted malts, dirt, toast. Mellow but pretty well balanced and tasty.
