500ml bottle. Poured a deep, ruddy brown with a two-finger, fading beige head leaving a soapy lace. Cinnamon, clove, crunchy roasted malts and red fruit aromas. Cinnamon and clove again on the tongue with red berries and sambuca-esque herbal notes. A lingering ashy, coffee bitter finish prevails in each sip. Light to medium body, dark malt and spice finish, medium carbonation. Could do with more thrust in the mid-palate as the spice overpowers the base beer somewhat.

500ml bottle - cheers jeevan! Pours hazy brown, thin off-white head. Cinnamon and nail varnish, clove, light creamy note. Christmassy for sure. Taste is light spice, cola. Fizzy, sweet finish. OK.

Bottled 12/06/14. A black beer with a little off white head. A roasty porter with spicy notes. Flavoursome and likeable. Hints of coffee. Pretty good.

Bottle from Ales By Mail. pours almost clear dark ruby with small big bubbles, slowly fading. Aroma of dark red fruits, spices and sweet Coke. Taste is light sweet christmas spicy malts, hints of liquorice, light oily mouthfeel. Short lived liquorice toffee aftertaste.

500ml bottle. Murky, red glittering brown colour with no head, just some white bubbles bedew the surface. Aroma of cherries, ginger and cinnamon. Taste is moderately sweet, minimally soapy, ginger notes, a touch of cinnamon, clove, cautious malty basis with a touch of cherry; slightly watery, flat carbo, almost insipid.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Superaromatic nose full of spices. Some cinnamon, pepper, sweets. A bit unusual taste but a brew full of christmas-style aromas. Sweetish finish and quaffy. Nice one.

Pours out of the bottle in a deep black colour with low steady head and medium body. Aroma of malt and spices. Taste of intense malt, christmas spices, pepper, cloves, cinnamon, woods, leaves and grains. Spicy-sweet finish. Good and solid but nothing special.

Bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Lightly hazy, burnished copper colour. Film of off white head. Underripe fruit. Some spice. Taste is dry spice. Underlying demerara sugar sweetness. Tart, light acidic finish. Not my thing.

Bottle. Ruby brown with a minimal head. Aroma is liquorice and a little coffee. Flavor is spice berry at the start, winter berries on a dry malt, kinda flat finish .

2012 vintage. Good as black with an uneven, yeast-fuelled beige collar. Apple peel, clove, maybe sarsaparilla on the nose lurking behind roast, yeast extract and mocha. Slender roast, coffee, blueberry like undercurrents dusted with non-specific spice, maybe clove or grains of paradise. Something of a muted dubbel feel about it, pumped up with BC yeast and not overdone with spice.
