Bottle at a ChrisO tasting - London. Pours clear, light brown with a fine, white film head. Dark bread in the nose with very faint cocoa notes. Light sweet flavor with more dark bread, some light earth, dark sugars. Light of body and fine of carbonation. Mild sweetness to finish with mellow chocolate, some toast. A bit bland but not offensive.

A nice porter by aroma, caramel, malt and liquorice, but something weird in the background .... sort of coal tar soap .....

Bottle from Whole Foods, Piccadilly Circus. A dark brown colour with not much head, looks a bit like flattish Coke. To me this is more of a dark fruity ale than a porter, lacking the roasty malt and hopping of the latter. Quite a full oily body, some earthy hop, mostly fruity malt. Actually pleasant when I got over it not being a porter.

500ml bottle. Pours a deep mahogany, with a beige head. Fruity, roasted aroma, malt, carael, dried fruits, chocolate, hops. Off-dry, medium to full bodied, medium bitterness, balanced CO2. Malty, roasted taste, caramel, toffee, chocolate, yeast, dried fruits. A bit light for a porter? (2012-05-28)

Bottled (from ruby colour, small beige head). Rubyish amber colour, mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruity and floral notes with mild chocolaty notes. Flavour is quite similar and a nice balance.

Cracked open a bottle and it started fizzing - didn’t quite expect that from this beer but it is bottle conditioned. It’s a decent porter but a bit light in the palate. Roasted coffee some lingering burnt aftertaste. Decent enough but there’s other porters on offer in London.
