Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU (Batch I), 150 IBU (Batch II), 163 IBU (Batch III), 216 IBU (Batch IV), but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars.

Drough @ Ma Che Siete Venuti A Fà, Roma. Pours cloudy amber with of white, rich, long lecing head. Nose is sweet caramel, honey, ripe fruit, onion!? yeast, citrus and floral hop aroma. Flavour is rich caramel, candy, dark fruit, sweet at the beginning, but overpowered by strong, harsh hop bitternes. Just a bit to aggressive for my opinion. Despite of 9% ABV the alcohol is well hidden. Medium body, low to moderate carbonation. Not bad at all!

Amber with white foam. Nose of fruits and hop. Medium bodied. Taste of hops and sweet fruits with flowery hints. Not the best double ipa.

Aroma: floral hops, tropical fruits.Appearance: dark hazy amber, medium frothy. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: bitters intensify, getting very pronounced, dry average-finish. Overall: interesting Belgian interpretation of an IIPA. Pint at Cafe Red Rose, Bruges.

P: Murky dark caramel body that looks similar to unfiltered pure apple cider. A massive cloudy of khaki clouds perch above and micro bubble chain male wrap the edges. S: Belgian candy sugar, sweet plums, dark cherries, moldy oak, pilsner malt, medicinal yeast, raisin pound cake, toffee and honey sticks. T/M: Thick sticky sweet malts, loads of barley, toffee, sourdough toast, tea tannins, dark fruits, with an abrasive chalky yeast and hop bitterness medley that cuts straight through the sugary start. Soda pop carbonation in medium body finishing with a dry rustic linger. O: This was an interesting brew to say the least. Harsh bitterness with a huge sugary malt profile. This almost comes across as a hopped up quad. I think I might grab another bottle. Cheers! Serving type: bottle

Bom drikabillity. Muito boa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Murky amber pour with a white head. Citrusy hop notes with a sturdy caramel malt backbone. Good glance, body , and mouthfeel.

11.2oz bottle (vintage 2011) into a snifter souvenir from dld 2013 - nose is a quad/abt. Basement aromas out the ass and nutty as shit. Why the fluffy bunny rabbits did I pick this up? It’s a DIPA from 2011!! Aged really well but has very few DIPA characteristics. Interesting experience.

2011 Vintage shared by the anti-suicidal Chudwick. If this is suppose to be fresh, someone (cough Party Town cough cough) needs to rotate their inventory. I mean Chudwick just bought this, did not realize it was a 2011. Now...if it is suppose to be aged, it’s a different story. It has aged well, but it is a double IPA so how the fuck do I rate it? Now that I am reading the bottle, I realize that it is suppose to be fresh so, FML. Way too old. Basement aromas. Can’t really give it a fair rating to the style.

2014.05.15 - Struise (and Mikkeller) Elliot Brew - 11.2 oz (?) bottle in goblet. Bottle marked: Vintage 2013 SM No.12 Lot: 050301022013 Bottle Lot: 30-06-HH Aroma: As expected for a DIPA, hoppy. Some citrus. Similar to Hopslam or Pliny. Appearance: Pours medium light caramel brown, mostly opaque. That seems to be particulate matter, when you look in the glass it’s clear around the margins and cloudy in the center. Probably 18 on SRM scale. Fizzy mild carbonation, sporadic cap of bubbles. Taste: I can’t differentiate much from other DIPAs I have had. Follows nose, hoppy, the citrus is more apparent than in the aroma. Palate/Mouthfeel: 9% but not too "heavy". Not really creamy. Less alcohol warmth than you’d expect. Slick mouthfeel. Overall, not bad. Not a stellar DIPA (though I am admittedly not a huge IPA fan) but tasty and well done. Aroma 6/10, Appearance 4/5, Taste 7/10, Palate 4/5, Overall 14/20
