Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU (Batch I), 150 IBU (Batch II), 163 IBU (Batch III), 216 IBU (Batch IV), but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars.

Cooperation with the much-revered Mikkeller (and label in the Mikkeller house style), in four versions; this rating concerns batch III (163 IBU). Very stable, regular, cream white head, colour a brownish amber, hazy with a ’fond’ of protein flakes. Excessively hoppy aroma, spicy, grapefruit, tonic water, orange peel, dried leaves, walnuts, cookies, caramel. Fresh citrussy onset, rounded nutty maltiness, rather light mouthfeel in relation to its strength, sodden in hops from beginning to end, aromatic, peppery, citrussy and grapefruit-like, eventually becoming even more bitter, almost to a medicinal level, sticky and very, very long. A treat for hopheads.

Draught @ Wildeman, Amsterdam. Incoming from the Western Front! Hop bomb, huge pucker factor, passion fruit. Not very Belgian, love it!

Tap. Hazy orange with a nice head. Pine, citrus, honey, lemon candy. Medium body. Smooth with slightly sweet bitter finish. Awesome

A wonderful new take on the double ipa. The candy sugar adds an interesting balance to the hops. But the lingering bitterness I the hops leaves your mouth happy. The mix of sugar and spice combined with the grapefruit notes of the hops balance perfectly. Well done!

Well-balanced! Great nose... Supreme taste, overal a 9,5, you recognise the 2 breweries I one glass! tasted it at grand cabaret (Nieuwpoort BE) on draft! They tap on Nitrogene, installation perfectionised by Urbain Coutteau ( from Struise Brouwers) himself...

12oz bottle at Woodruff's. Pours a hazy pale brown color with some frothy head. Lots of great earthy hop flavors.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2014 Tap @ Ma Che Siete Venuti A Fŕ, Roma. Pours cloudy amber with of white, rich, good lacing and long lasting head. Nose is sweet caramel, honey, ripe fruit, onion!? yeast, citrus and floral hop aroma. Flavour is rich caramel, candy, dark fruit, sweet at the beginning, but overpowered by strong, harsh hop bitternes. Just a bit to aggressive for my opinion. Despite of 9% ABV the alcohol is well hidden. Medium body, low to moderate carbonation. Not bad at all!

Amber with white foam. Nose of fruits and hop. Medium bodied. Taste of hops and sweet fruits with flowery hints. Not the best double ipa.
