- Joe Tucker, RateBeer.com

Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU (Batch I), 150 IBU (Batch II), 163 IBU (Batch III), 216 IBU (Batch IV), but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars.

Thanks to rustychiles for the share on this one. First whiff of the aroma is a punch of hops. After that first smell, the hops practically disappeared, replaced with lots of spices and candi sugars (and bleu cheese?). Taste is super sweet, spicy, and extremely bitter. I do not think that the journey to America treated this beer well at all. Obvious that a lot of work went into this, but not good at all as I experienced it.

1/24/2009 1:37:39 PM Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Opal body with frothy head. Very hoppy nose. Bitter taste with lots of hops. A wonderful IPA. Fruity and ginger, sure. But hops and bitter aplenty. A superb beer. Love it.

On tap. Pours orange with white off head. A bit piney, herbal, orange peel, tangerine, peach, floral and a bit caramel. Nice bitterness. Stays coating the mouth but it gets never harsh. I am not sure if the whipped cream head with a low carbonation body, much like Guinness, is a good idea. I kind of missed a more intense carbonation once and a while to push around all that hoppy goodness. A great brew anyway

At the Alvinne Craft Beer Festival in Vichte-Belgium with markoijelana. Ciao. Pours orange hazy, off-white head. Nose: amber caramel malts, mild citrus notes. Mouth: a bit too aggressively bitter, malty in a way but not that terrific.

Vintage 2013, SM No. 12 The beer is fruity and fresh. Slightly grainy. Not too deep, nice floral fresh aftertaste with slightly sourish hints. Bitter-fresh aftertaste. Nice, fresh-bitter, for the 9% highly drinkable. Nice.
