COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Collaboration brew with Stillwater Artisanal Ales (USA). Crowned last week with a golden Award for Best newcomer in the world 2011.

This Belgian Strong Ale was married to a still young but powerful style, the Black IPA. You’ll discover a smooth chocolate like strong ale together with the high & bitter hop schedule of an IPA, and you get a great result...

A clear brown colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of chocolate with red fruits and liquorice candy. The taste of chocolate, hints of coffee, with cherries and liquorice candy. The aftertaste is fruity, has chocolate. Sweet with some bitter.

Deep brown/red pour w/ a monsterous light tan head w/ thick bubbles and some soapy lacing. Hints of toffee, lightly bitter chocolate, heavily roasted. Full well coated palate. Flavor is a tootsie roll with a touch of grassy hops after that. Simple and enjoyable.

Bottle at home - 29/07/12 thanks to an IP trade with Wim. Murky dark brown pour with a good few fingers of off-white head. Hops and Belgian yeast on the nose allied to a little brown sugar, cocoa and spice. Bready malts in the taste allied to the hops and the spice is a little more prevalent. Medium bodied but the carbonation was a little too prickly for me. Drinkable but would revisit many other Struise beers prior to this one!

scored the very last bottle at the struise shop, drinking it at my house. pours as near as black that you can get, withoud calling it pure blackness. in thin layers with light behind it, its still brown. some shifting, but i supose that could be becouse of the aging .. the smell is very familiar, yet i cant realy put it in words... reminds me of sour, metal,... yet i could be ugly wrong with this. can onley say i’m not a big fan of this smell, yet it aint realy hideous . taste is comparable to the smell, yet it tastes less than it smells? not realy a complex brew, yet not borning as well. maybe a chocolat - candy sort of thing is the thing i’m lokking for, taste and smell wise. not realy an aftertaste or twist. pretty straight forward drink . not terrible, but not a big fan as well. i’ll drink it to the end but wont buy another onbe very quickly

An easy five in appearance. The sweet sugary toffee aroma of the Belgian strong ale easily overpowers the hops in the aroma, to a fairly surprising degree. There is some hops in the body but again the sweet sugars from the Belgian part are really the dominant factor. A bit fruity in the finish even. Strange beer. But good.

Pours a dark brown color with a large tan head. Aroma is very sweet, candy sugar like. Very rich flavor, mostly dark fruit. Silky mouth feel. This is a great beer, I feel like this is more of a Belgian then the IPA that it's described as. Hop profile is missed or just perfectly selected for this beer to compliment it that well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: pours dark chocolate brown, subtle tan head that settles to a ring. Nose is dark fruits, earth malts, cherries. Medium bodied with robust roasted malts, bourbon, cherries, dough on the palate. Slightly sweet then followed with heavy booze spiciness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: darkest brown pour with large tan head. Aromas of maple, currants, caramel, toffee and a minor alcohol note. Flavor is big on salted caramel with roast grains, cassis, and a minor dark chocolate note. Palate is mostly sticky sweet with a mild grainy chocolate bitter. This beer grows on you. Very salty. Eat accordingly and delicious.

Pours very dark brown with a thick lasting tan head. Aroma is herbal with a distinctive tussin smell to it. Follows through with roasted notes, more of that tussin flavor, and other medicinal qualities. Definitely one of the most unique things i have tasted in a while.
