Commercial Description:
Due to its authenticity, Earthmonk received as less sugar as possible during bottle conditioning in order to prevail all original aromas and flavours. This beer comes with little carbonation and a mini head. Is best served at cellar temperature and poured generously, meaning from a hight of approximately 15 to 20 CM, in an upright standing tulip glass. A big bubbled head will quickly make place for the Earthmonk coming alive! Bottle-conditioned in 33cl (5000 btls.) and 75cl (1000 btls.). At Struise, we never retire beers. At ratebeer, Beers are retired when a new batch is not bottled within 12 months. As Earthmonk takes 18 months to age on oak... we have to be patient.

This beer died on me as i got into the glass. Pours dark brown with minimal head. Very sweet. Too sweet for my liking as i would have liked to see more sour to better balance it. Alcohol presence as it warms. Not a bad offering by any means, but not sour enough.

Zeeland 08’ tasting. Really looking forward to this one. Poured red brown. Aroma was nice funk and sour cherries. Taste was nice cherry, well rounded and a great tannic and wine like acidity. One of my favorites of the night.

Pours hazy burnt caramel with no head. Wonderful tart cherry nose with funk. The flavor is the same with a mellow nutty finish.

Bottle pours dark brown with no head. Aroma is super tart. Smells almost like nail polish. Its that strong. Body is medium and full. Flavor is one of the most tart beers I’ve ever had. So tart I had a hard time figuring out where the flavors in this thing were. Maybe some oak and fruit. I don’t know. Just super sour. They were looking to make a sour and they did. Mission accomplished.

33CL bottle. Pours with a no head, and a deep, murky ebony brown body. Coats the side of the glass. Aroma of tartness, peaches (ripe), alcohol, caramel, burbon and sour tanins. Wine like acidity in the aroma. Taste is sour, but at the same time sweet with burboun/oak notes and a slightly metallic finish. Light to no carbonation. Interisting sour.

Murky brown, tan bubbles playing around on the surface. The nose is out of this world, effortlessly juggling: tart, dry wine; luscious berries; sugary chocolate malts; dusty, acidic sour qualities; faint balsamic notes. Flavor balances chocolate and caramel, sugary berries, plum, tart sour apple, alcohol and wood. Palate is ultra long and matches perfectly, moderate and smooth to go with the malt yet carbonated just enough to accent the sour elements. Complex, yet light and refreshing, and yet also a tightrope balance of contrasts. You can drink it fast. You can drink it slow. Whatever you do, drink it.
