4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A very, very opaque brown color. I cannot see light through it, and it is still a bit turbid. I do get hints of light at the small of the glass and the top edges. There is a faint red tint to it. Flat, still pour. No head, even when forcing it. A very pungent acetobacter (vinegar) aroma. Very strong. There is a big malty aroma under this as well. Much like a big barleywine that may have gone bad from oxygen exposure. In this case it was intentional though. Leaves a caramel tint on the glass after taking a sip and the liquid falls back to its temporary residence. Some points it smells like a quad with barely any sourness, but that may be the vinegar smell saturating my senses until I clear them.
The taste is a very mixed bag of flavors. I get the sweet malt up front. Much like a quad in this regard. Then the sourness hits me. It isnít overpowering like the smell would lead one to believe. It is subtle but in your face. An oxymoron of a presence. There is also a big alcohol presence in both taste and mouth feel. A slight bitterness makes its way into the mouth as well. Itís not the sour, itís something else. Maybe some hops, as I get a bit of a vegetal taste also. But fairly subdued. A very earthy taste as well. Could be from the barrel, as is most of the oxygen characters Iím picking up. Iím digging it. Itís very complex. Like a sherry, but maltier. Fruity and sour, with sweetness mixed in. There is a burning in the throat after each swallow that is a combination of the vinegar and alcohol notes. Not over the top.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
2008 vintage bottle. Pours a murky, yet vibrant maroon, with a slight plum hue. Maybe even some brown flashes in there too...very interesting appearance with a very thin off-white/pink-tinged cap on top. Aromas of nail polish, red wine vinegar, tart cherries and a slight musty odor. Taste is quite the adventure! Initial tart cherries up front, but this full-bodied beauty gives off some rich flavors of fig, plum, oak, vinous notes/port notes. Some slight spice comes in at the end as well. Such an interesting and delicious beer!! One of the most unique and interesting to this style. Wish I had more!!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 2008 vintage, thanks to Alen!! Pours deep mahogany ruby with very little head; an initial bubbly head gives way to a tiny mist of beige lacing along with a ring. Decent lacing nevertheless. Aroma is pretty light overall, presenting an interesting mix of quad characteristics; chocolate, fig, prune, some vinous qualities, a bit of tart cherry. Flavor follows, with some initial sweetness and hints of dark sugars and fig, drying out and becoming lightly tart cherry, oak, vanilla, tannins, ruby port. Dry finish with very light funk, basement flavors coming through at the end. Kind of wine like in mouthfeel, no real carbonation, but still rich and full bodied. Quite the interesting beer, actually.

From notes. Big thanks for OldMrCrow for sharing this with me a few weeks back. I should have entered these notes earlier so I could fill in the gaps better, but Iíll do my best. Pours dark ruby with some large bubbles dotting the surface. Aroma: steak sauce, prunes, soy, oak and earth. Perhaps a hint of cheese. Brown sugar. Complex, a shade sweet on the nose - reminds me a bit of cuvťe de tomme perhaps? Taste: smoky! Thereís the steak sauce. Smoky, sweet, brown sugar, honey, soy prune, a bit tart (but not over the top). Palate: Medium-full body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Oily. Overall: I like this! A little chocolate / roast in there too. Leather, meat, balsamic. After it was mentioned, it smells of dark rubber -- it really does, like a tire. Cool beer -- thanks again for sharing this, OldMrCrow!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a medium frothy tan head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is raisin, caramel, and vinegar. Thin mouth feel with a strong funk, caramel, and light dryness in the finish. Vey good.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Shared bottle at Kulminator. 2008 vintage. Black body with a white film. Port, raisin, prune, vanilla and vinuous notes fill the nostrils. Silky smooth and full bodied prune juice with chutney and notes of liquorice. My mouth really waters up from this potion, I canít help it. Oh bliss!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at the Kulminator, Antwerp. Poured a murky dark brown with a reddish hue and a round off-white head. The aroma is sour acid, almost vinegar. The flavour is medium sour with a super smooth acid rich fruit alcoholic palate. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. Itís surely an acquired taste for some but as soon as you acquire it thereís no going back.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared with harrisoni in the Molenhof. Thanks Ian. Almost clear but very dark brown, almost no head. Nose is very sour and complex. Balsamic and brown malt vinegar dominates, then its softer vinous red wine grape, cherries, malty grain, tart and sour. Taste is again balsamic vinegar, red wine, vinous grape, tart and sour, touch of caramel. Itís a very busy and complex beer where elements are certainly starting to come together although the vinegar maybe hasnít mellowed quite enough to match the softer wine tones.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
75cl bottle, shared. 07/11. Almost black, thin head. Vinegar aroma, balsamic. Covers all else. Flavor has tartness, vinegar, salty cucumber. 1 dl was quite enough. Not bad, but really balsamic vinegary stuff, which is borderline for me.
