cgarvieuk (2165), Edinburgh, Scotland Apr 8, 2008 Blend made at the Struise Farm by Urbain... Deep brown, little red ... Wonderfully complex nose ... deep fruit sweet caramel malts and tart lambic nose ... oh my oh my this is superb ... its got all the flavour and complexity of a sour ale but just a bit subdued ... tart fruity ... rich soft tones and some malts... I cant quite figer all this out but its right on so many levels. harrisoni (5011), Ashford, Kent, England Mar 4, 2008 Blend made at the Struise Farm by Urbain. Shared with Mesandsim and Duff. This was a blend of Earthmonk and Pannepot Gran Reserva. It has that distinctive sour aroma and some of the cola and apple from the Gran Reserva. Wow. That blows me away. The Earthmonk comes through just so well balancing any sweetness of the Gran Reserva. That really is lovely and simply stunning. 1/3 Earthmonk, 2/3 Pannepot Gran Reserva. auderale (466), Fairchild AFB, Washington, USA Feb 2, 2008 Updated: Feb 17, 2008ZBF 2007: Hazy brown colored pour with medium sized head. Fruity, acidic nose with a spicy, earth toned, dry finish. yousee (49), Belgium Nov 7, 2007 Blend made by Urbain on the KBF at Poperinge. The perfect marriage to me, 1/3 sour ale and 2/3 Pannepot aged on oak. What a magnificent blend this is, the most elegant clash between the sour and sweet oak aged. Can you imagine, an elegant Eartmonk or a less sweet Pannepot?
Pours a darkbrown coloured beer with a gentle creamy persisting head. Very sweet and slight sour caramel nose. While the balsamic earthy taste attacks you in a first taste, it quickly balances to slight sweet coffe and chocolate. Aamazing balance, medium bodied and almost no hop sensing or tasting at all. The alcohol is totally hidden, the sweet roastyness of Pannepot doing its job, and Earthmonk covering the rest up. What a great blend, an aftertaste of Iron, the sweet candi just under cover. mucom (36), Netherlands Oct 31, 2007 Blend by Struise at the Karakterbier festival @ Poperinge this weekend. This one is huge, great and georgous at the same time. The perfect mix between a strong ale and a flemish sour ale. Pours a very dark beer with a beautiful brown, creamy head. Fruity aroma of apples and wine, vanilla and oak. Light sweet and very moderate sour flavour. Very well balanced and extremely complex.
