UPDATED: MAR 14, 2007 Draught. Dark brown red coloured. Dense light brown head. Aroma is great. Berries, subtle sourness, spice, grape, some earthnotes and a countering sweetness gives a aroma in great balance. Flavour as well i harmonious and balanced. Dense sour berries, flowers, light sour grape, spice and some light vinegarnotes. Very complex. Has a fantastic mouthfeel. Is dry and grapish in the end with some berrysweetness. Yet another masterpiece from the fantastic Struise brewers. Cheers to Urbain, Carlo and all the others.

Saurer Kirschgeruch.

GT2 and I tried this blend at the Kulminator once, and failed miserably. This time, it was blended by the Man, the Myth and the Legend himself, at the request of Phredrik and rasmusott from the land of the Vikings. The aroma had more fruits it it than I can name, but especially prunes, plums and raisins. The taste was spectacular, complex roasty chocolate and port wine, with great character. This experience alone made the BBF worthwhile!
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JorisPPattyn (7363) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 3, 2007
Dull chestnut colour; good beige head. Sour, lactic and even acetic acid aromas, severe. Very dry, extremely woody with a perfect lactic/acetic balance. Complex without showing. Very dry, agreable, certain slickness. Great beer, but oh, so severe!

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2007 A Mes rate:
Draught at ZBF. Totally love Aardmonnik, totally love Pannepot. Of course they go together, no brainer really. Like a tarty Pannepot or a less sour Aardmonnik. Sweet and sour caramel nose. Red grapes (red wine) a la Aarmonnik. Great dark brown colour with a tan head. Simply incredible in the mouth dancing over the palate jumping from sour Aardmonnik character to the candy sugared roastyness of Pannepot. Earthy and sugary, balsamic (very) and creamy. Its a tastebud assault. Loooong finish goes on for a long time. Superb. Clearly one of the best of the festival.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2007 Draught: Poured a dark hazy brown with light brown thick fast acting head. The aroma was fruit and acidic. Spicy earthy flavor that finshed dry acidy.

Second taste (first at ZBF) Now on tap @ KBW. Hazy dark brown, light beige head. Aroma sour, fruits, dark malts, little candi. Medium to full body. Taste is complex but good: malts, sourness, little sweet, nuts ?.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 77ships (2239) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 23, 2013
Slightly blackish dark brown with a red hue and some beige bubbles. Nose is a bit ruled by oxidation given the base beers age, light dusty with tobacco leaves, sticky dark fruits, very light balsamic vinegar. Tastes lightly musty, dark fruits, some prunes & figs, tobacco leaves, burned / heavily roasted coffee and chocolate, very interesting, almost lightly roasted malts, cacao, light touch of balsamic vinegar and tangy red cherries and some cherry pits, sweet malts. Very smooth & full. Quite good – unfortunately I never really liked the 2008 Vintage of Aardmonnik – 2007 on the other hand is one of the greatest sours in existence – love drinking that one regularly. 2005 is pretty good as well. I need a bigger sour kick – I think 2007 Aardmonnik is still the place to be for me. Still this is quite interesting.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 oteyj (2114) - New Hampshire, USA - JUL 19, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 27, 2012 Blended by Urbain, with 2008 vintage base beers. Extreme dark brown pour with a small off white head. The nose holds epic amounts of dark fruit lead to acetic acid, balsamic notes, milk chocolate, huge cherry, unripened pear/plum, and massive vinous notes. The flavor is like nothing I could have ever imagined. Huge sour dark fruits plus another payload of dark fruit lead to chocolate malt, acetic acid, and juicy tannic cherry skins. The palate is as full as full can be, leaving a sweet chocolate dryness that I’ve never experienced. An epic concoction that is better than the constituent brews.
