Rciesla (165), Brick City, New Jersey, USA May 8, 2008 3L swing top bottle courtesy of Jason and Todd at red bones sunday after EBF. Awesome bottlework! This belgian style imperial stout pours dark black and has a dark tan head that disipated slowly. The flavor is really all over the place chocolate, light fruit, wine,
some coffee. The beer was very complex and i felt a lot of the flavors clashed more then compliment each other. it seems most people are enjoying this on draft, maybe something worth considering. I will go out of my way to say its the best belgian style stout i’ve had but does not satisfy my expections of an imperial stout. armando629 (238), Budapest, Hungary Apr 25, 2008 Updated: May 7, 2008Carlo, the brewer, have given me a sample from a tank. Tha sample was before the fermentation in the bottle, but it was great, characteristic about taste of coffe, roasted malts, fruits. It has a big, thick body and a long aftertaste...Thank you Carlo! surmont (11), USA Apr 13, 2008 I dronk one of the last Barrels at the "Erasmus" in Bruges two months ago. It left me with a strange feeling of "Déjà vu"; Dolle Brouwers? Anyway a beer that merits its reputation. Jimrbb (13), USA Apr 11, 2008 Updated: Apr 30, 2008had this beer at erasmus bruges. from tap. great imperial stout with intense roast malts flavors. chocolat raisins coffee. delicious DSG (440), Yuvalim, Israel Apr 1, 2008 (2/27/08) Draught at Hotel Erasmus in Bruges. Opaque black-colored beer with a thick, stable, creamy brown head. Also laces beautifully - one of the prettiest beers I’ve witnessed. A really powerful and complex aroma of malt, coffee, roasted bitter chocolate, lots of dark fruits, caramel, some licorice and something else I can’t put my finger on. Sweet flavor of chocolate, some plums and prunes, some espresso and a dry finish with some hops, roastiness and notes of alcohol. A thick, creamy mouthfeel. A wonderful beer.
