COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Thanks to Benzai! Pours opaque black with a slight brown head which soon recedes to a brown lacing. Aroma is coffee, roast malts and dried fruits. Taste is dried fruits - red grape and prunes, molasses, hint of coffee, caramel, moderate hop bitterness. Mellow sweetness throughout. Full bodied with an oily mouthfeel.

Bottle, 33cL. @bar Oud Postje, Oostvleteren. Stunning look : black sparkling beer with a small beige oily head ; medium retention. On the top of the beer, the small head turns into an artistic nebula. Toasty and roasty aroma, light fruity, coffee (intense), alcohol well balanced. Medium sweet, medium bitter ; no "sugary" ; a little warming ; cradling like a baby. Full body, oily thick texture, average to soft carbonation, lasting toasty finish, coffee. Overall, WOW! Magnificent ! What an elegance. Great texture and palate. Story goes on a long time after I left this bar.

This Stout has nice creamy nougat colored foam and an aroma that reveals little fruit and distinct dark bitter chocolate on a background of toasted malt. The taste is almost artistically composed of little fruit (plum), dark bitter chocolate, mocha and a little bit of English liquorice. It all kept nice together of roasted malt and the bitterness has also a little touch of citrus. The alcohol, which after all amounts to 13%, marking a slight warming sensation at the back of the throat, but not dominate though my bottle of Black Albert is still young compared to the bottling date. It’s a perfect beer for the cold autumn and winter evenings, and with the taste notes it already offers I do not think I would recommend long-term storage. It would hardly not be worth the effort because it is already complete.

330cc bottle. Pours black with almost brown tricô creamy head. On the nose is just like entering a forest, that was burned down by a fire, after the rain. Also cacau, ristretto, red fruit compote, wine and wood. The taste is more of the bitter chocolate notes, bitter berries, wine. Great mouthfeel.

Bottle from Cornelius. Black body with a thick tan head. Light lacing. Aroma of vanilla, creamy coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour of affogato, fruit cake, chocolate, plum pudding and yeast. Thick body with a powdery texture. Soft fizz. Is this really 13% ABV? It goes down as easily as a 6.0% beer. Well balanced and flavoursome.
