COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. I had Cuvee Delphin first and thought the black albert would be pretty standard IS. But it was wrong. This beer is like a Belgian Strong Stout. The dark fruits aroma like resins, plums, black currents is very well harmonized with black malts character. Sweet, fruity, chocolate, roasty, no booze at all. Fantastic.

Tar black, small tan head. Roast, anise, malt aroma. Flavor’s like nose, but substitute licorice for anise. Palate is ultra smooth. Long finish.

Pitch black pour with a dark espresso head that doesn’t linger much. Dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, some dark cherries and a bit of vanilla. Thick and full-bodied, with medium carbonation.

Bottle @ Elfo’s Pub, Perugia, Italy. Pours with a pitch black colour, short lasting beige head (ok, it’s short lasting, but I don’t care, it’s 13% ABV!). Aroma is opulent: heavy malty, with notes of roasted malts, milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, some licorice and some woodberries; after some time, there are also hoppy notes, but not at all overwhelming (see, Mikkeller? Stouts need not all that hops to be good!). Taste is medium to heavy sweet, medium bitter, slightly sour in the end. Medium to heavy body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Honestly? Best beer I’ve ever had.

Bottle at home (shared, vintage 2015). Pours black with a tan head. Sweet aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malts, alcohol. Taste is sweet, coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, licorice, alcohol, dry finish. Long full aftertaste of dark chocolate and roasted malts. Very nice, maybe a bit too young with the alcohol being quite dominant still. Nevertheless, still great.

Alcol ben presente e potente. Una grande bevuta.

Pitch black color with big tan head. Aroma is coffee, but not too roasted, figs and prunes. Taste is rich, more dark fruits, a good amount of sweetness, but perfectly balanced, also with a perfectly balanced booziness, some Belgian candied sugar feeling. Bittersweet finish. High but fine-bubbled carbonation, quite a creamy mouthfeel. Hugely complex, this beer lives up to its reputation. The perfect mixture between Belgianness and Imperial Stout.
