This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. almost black colour, 1 inch cremy borwn head; aroma of cocoa, dried cherry and plum, coffee, some herbal liqueur and woody notes;taste is even more intensive and complex: cocoa, coffee, dried cherry, plum and some berries, oatmeal cake, vanilla and some sourish notes; AMAZING! Not a typical imperial stout with this Belgian-beer sourness, but definitely one of the best imperial stout I’ve ever tasted

(On tap @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Sept 10 2015) Pours black with a small head of pale tan and no lace. Aroma intense dark malts and sweet, dried dark fruits, bittersweet chocolate, toffee, vanilla, cherry, liquorice and a little floral accent. On the palate, rich and unctuous dark malts and dark chocolate, dried fruit, cherry and plum, a bit of coffee and vanilla and moderate roast up front. Roasty character of coffee, vanilla and wood builds in the middle with a bit of hops, leading to a finish with the rich fruity core remaining but dried down with cherry wood and soft roast/hop bitterness. Rich, full mouthfeel with soft carb, not quite viscous, no alcohol. Fruity, elegant and Belgian, this is a great imperial stout, period.

Bottle. Black in colour, beige an small head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee fruits and licorice. In taste similar, really good fine dark chocolate. Full bodied, sticky, a bit too high carbonation. Great brew.

The first stout I ve tried, shared with friend. When we opened this we said: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! O_o!!! :O Dark as motor oil spilled on floor. Aroma went in the room and WTF?! It was so much coffee man and so much choko. But a little bit boozy! Anyway fantastic beer. Maybe one of my favourite.

Thick oily and pretty much black. Liqurice aroma with caramel and roasty characteristics. The head is thin, dense and deep tan, very beautiful colour. There is the slightest hint of a fruit aroma and some pepper. The beer is tongue-coating and first hints at cream, pepper and then an intense liquorice flavour. With each sip the experience changes, shifting more towards a lasting emphasis on the peppery qualities, even giving way to dark fruit flavour like the deepest berry or even root. The silky mouthfeel makes the experience quite majestic but also strange. Whilst the flavour is incredibly varied, it sometimes switches to being ’muddy’ which detracts from the overall experience. Overall, though, really good.

Bottle thanks to Santa. This is on the verge of perfection, a real gem. Oily black pour with a tight dark brown head. Aroma was super deep and complex. Rich roasted malt, melted candy bar, vanilla, nouget, cocoa, light fruity esters, cherries, awesome. Flavors followed suit with lots of cocoa and vanilla, roasted malt, light fruit with a lingering roasty, bitter finish. Viscous, velvety mouthfeel with light carbonation. Yowzer, hard to ask for anything else in an imperial stout. So rich and smooth.
