Pours black and thick like oil. Aromas of baker’s bittersweet chocolate, molasses and coffee. Very full mouth feel. An interesting and tasty beer.

Best before Jul, 2015
Pours nice dark black with a solid mocah sheet of loose bubbles. Smells of chocolate, date, nougat, graham and hints of licorice. Nice nose. Flavor carries leather, tobacco, dates, figs, brown glazed molasses, some bits of dark plum and a hint of toasted graham cracker. Slightly thin body and low carb with a semidry finish. Nice beer, I would drink a bit of this on tap at the right price. The alcohol is surprisingly absent in the beer despite the hefty 13% marking.

The aroma and flavor are powerful alcoholic. The flavor has a lot more burn than the aroma lets on. It's not bad once you get past the burn.

33cl Bottle: BBD Sep 15, poured into a Westmalle chalice at home on 3rd Dec 13.
Scummy head of tanned sparsely spaced bubbles: a collar surrounded the glass. The body was surprise, surprise: black. Luckily the smell, taste and mouthfeel make up for the poor looks.
Chocolate notes in the aroma, some semi-sweetened coffee hints also. The taste follows the smells nicely, chocolate and coffee leading the flavours, just like the aroma.
Smooth and rich body: this is a well made Stout, Imperial or otherwise.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with rich, medium-brown head. Aroma is of fruity-chocolate and earthy herbage, perhaps even a bit on the vegetal side, although my drinking companion did not observe this. Flavor is huge chocolate toast bordering on soy sauce. Some herbal hops and sap. Heavy, syrupy palate with considerable fine carbonation. A nice slow drinker!

I would like to dedicate this beer rating to the surgeon who performed my tummy tuck - is it racist to comapre a black doctor with a stout ? Probably but whatever . There is 7 thousand bucks well spent , man,. After rapid weight loss -you’re left with humiliating skin that will not fuck off - running , crunches , sit ups- wouldn’t see that skin go , it takes residence ON YOUR BEING. My esteem since the surgery in June has grown, now im an arrogant heel and everyone loves me ...Cheers
I can’t add much that’s not been said about this ...i could sip on this 4ever .the kinda rich silky palate that makes you optimistic -that makes you appreciate the craftmanship of the brewer ...and the damn surgeon .

Pitch black pour with a dark tan head. Aromas of cocoa, molasses, and dark fruits. Flavor is sweet stout initially with some roasty undertones in the finish. Plum and brown sugar notes. Abv is very well hidden too. Solid.

Batch no. 14. Recieved this in a trade a couple years back, so I have no idea of the age. Pours opaque black with thin bubbly dark brown head. Smell is rich dark chocolate, sweet ripe fruits, molasses, faint coffee, bit of hop presence. Taste lots of dark fruits, chocolate, soy, back strap molasses, some coffee, little booze. Some lingering harsh bitterness and muddled ripe fruits that may be showing a bit of oxidation. Not was I was hoping.
