COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Deep black pour, small tan head. Aroma is deep and almost fruity, mostly roasted malt but with a belgian touch. Flavor is pretty sweet and sugary with lots of mild coffee upfront and a caramel sweetness that’s pretty big in the finish. Mouthfeel is thick with a lot of carbonation and a cloying sweet finish. Some smoke comes out afterwards to cut through the sweetness. Hop bitterness is there but does not affect the flavor at all, but the sweetness is a little too much. Overall a pretty good beer.

First thoughts are super smooth with a roasty aftertaste. Alcohol is hardly noticeable. The malted base is really smooth with a mld but complex spice palate. Quality.

Erg aangenaam bier.

Oh Boy. The infamous Black Albert delivers once again. This pitchblack, creamy beer with a small lightbrown head, may well be one of the best Stouts out there. The taste is sweet, but not sugarsweet, more like caramel/toffee-sweet. The aroma is deep and complex like the deepest levels of the black sea: plums, raisins, coffee and dark chocolate. A longlasting and bitter, roasty aftertaste is the bonus that comes with this dark horse. Marvelous!

Pours tar black with a tan head. Aroma of licorice, raisin, and dark fruit. Very sweet flavor with dark fruit, licorice, chocolate, caramel, and some bitterness. Thick creamy mouthfeel. Great beer! Don’t even notice the alochol.

2014.03.21 - Struise Black Albert - 11.2oz bottle at Brewsters in L.A. Pours totally opaque black as expected. Not much or no carbonation. Aroma: pretty neutral mild sweetness. 7/10 Appearance: as above, totally dark. 5/5 Taste: very smooth, spicy. Unbelievably smooth for the abv. 8/10 Palate: pretty smooth. Virtually no trace of alcohol or burn. Little to no carbonation. 4/5 Overall: I can't get myself to drink many stouts lately but omg this one is good. 16/20
