Commercial Description:
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America's best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker's chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Draught @ Erasmus, Brugge, Belgium. Dark dark black color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, milk and dark chocolate, strong coffee, moderate hoppy grass, grape, plum, raisin, licorice. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long long duration, a very complex flavor and so round and smooth. Body is full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft - flat. It is truly the best brewers in the world. ;o)) (280208)

Bottle @ YNWA, Kolding.
Pours opaque and completely black. A giant, staying, creamy, cappucino-brown head. Great duration. Aroma is a bit underwhelming for a 13 % beer. Roasted tones, some soft plums and a touch of dark Guetamala coffee. Medium carbonation, but only a mild creaminess. But when aroma and mouthfeel was a bit of a let-down, the flavour is stunningly complex. Let tartness at first, some liquorice giving game. Lots of hard roasted malts and a truly wonderful, lingering aftertaste. Soft viniousity and dark, dry, chocolate. There is hops - a lot of hops - in here, but it never does anything but balance out the wonderful flavour. In a few years, the aroma might have settled, and this will be a world-class beer - now it is just behind the best.

Thank you for sending Absumaster. Absolutely black, with a bit of creamy head, it looks rich and thick. Aroma of maltiness and a little coffee roast. The flavour is chocolate, roast, malt, a little coffee, mid-sip bitterness. The real feature of this beer is its balance. Its not too sweet, not too chocolate. Just eminently drinkable. A fine RIS.

Ratebeer #100. Bottle, thanks marsiblursi! Pours pitch black with large, café latte colored creamy head. Very vinous aroma with red fruits, some yeast and acrid sourness from the black grains. Very soft mouthfeel with slight sweetnes and a hint of sourness. Vinous with long chocolatey aftertaste. Earthy bitterness in the finis with a strange vegetal bitternes, like radish.

Bottle thanks to Chris at Ebenezer’s for sharing this one. Poured deep black in color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits, and some spices . Taste of dark chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruits, figs and a very mild alcohol warming. Very complex and very nice. I understand there are 2 versions of this around. I also understand that the version I’m rating is the better one.

Bottle shared by masonjer. Poured black with a decent sized (for an imperial stout) chocolate brown head. Aroma was surprisingly fruity - dark cherries supported by roasted malt. Overall flavor is definitely closer to a quad than an impy, save the dark roast backbone. Loads of dark fruit and a distinct vinous character. Alcohol presence is subtle. Lots of carbonation and a lighter than anticipated mouthfeel. Despite the difficulties with classifying its style, it’s definitely a remarkable beer.
