COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. I’ve had the pleasure of tasting this brew during several different occasions from the tap and from the bottle and I must say this is by far one of the best Imperial Stouts brewed; bar none! First, I don’t even know if this should be in the same class with other Imperial Stouts; it has its own distinctive style. The appearance of this brew has to be one of the darkest stouts I have ever seen. The head was so thick and velvety brown head that it looked like a shot of espresso…superb! It had a magnificent scent of sweet chocolate, dark roasted coffee beans and molasses along with roasted malt. The taste is just out of this world. Started off with a blitz of dark chocolate, espresso, and roasted malts; followed by light vanilla hoppy presence and fruit flavors with a touch of bitterness. The mouthfeel wasn’t too thick along with soft carbonation keeping the brew from tasting too syrupy. The complexity of this brew is such that 13% ABV is totally absent until the glass is almost empty and then you begin to say Wow, this is one hell of a beer! For me this was like drinking a fine Port that I could have sipped all night. I can’t say enough about the brews that are being produced at the Struise camp, but I do know that the rating of number one brewer in the world is without doubt; justified! This brew has taken Stouts to a whole new level!!!

In bottle from Brussels; this one was very, very thick and syrupy. Aroma was of oak and smoke, with some sweetness and roast. Flavor was almost too much .. very thick, crazy tongue feel and flavours. This was a good beer, though one I would not be able to drink quite often

Black Albert has a thin, tan head, an extremely dark-brown (essentially black), opaque appearance, with brown highlights at the edges, under strong, direct light, and minor lacing left behind. The aroma is of super-sweet, dark-roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, molasses, fruit cake, and nougat. Taste is of all those elements, plus high bitterness, astringency, black cherries, licorice, raisins, and other things indescribable. Mouthfeel is thick, oily, and syrupy, and Black Albert finishes semi-wet, strong, rich, and surprisingly drinkable. RJT

The taste of this beer is almost too big. It reminds me of Laphroig whisky- the flavor is so big and distinctive that you don’t want to drink it all of the time.

Thick, black. Creamy tan head. Aroma has prunes, licorice, coffe. Flavour is similar plus dark fruit with perfectly balanced bitterness and espresso finish. Not as sweet and cloying as you would perhaps expect from the aroma. Alcohol perfectly controlled. Very, very nice.

Very dark brown. Small brown head. Aroma of alcohol, nail varnish, juniper and pine. Too heavy aroma to be only inviting. Fine and complex taste. Juniper, pine, roasted barley. Fine mouthfeel, with no carbonation.

Semplicemente...un capolavoro di birra! Complessissima, da meditazione. Colore nerissimo.

Bottle. Pitch black with a creamy light brown head. The aroma is intense and warming, a miasma, with heavy roast malts, caramel, cocoa, strong coffee, plums, licorice. The flavour is sweet and heavy with chocolate of a dark variety, dark and sinister fruits, immoral fruits, satan, and the whole setup has a syrupy texture that is unlike cream. The cream is also present. Really plummy, on the whole. Fuck.

Dark black bliss. Dark viscose head that lingers on. Lovely. Deep body aroma plus flavours. Mocha, cinnamon, bitter herb, caramel, toffee and floral barley roast. Hints of tar and roasted malt even. I’m looking forward allowing these tastes to evolve.. Dig a deep pit and drop 33 bottles inside... then hope to forget for a substantial number of years. Body + aroma + flavour = more body... / A family member once helped an uncle digging house foundations in the 80’s. They realised my uncle bought land where the Germans has their base, after this find... one day they stumbled upon an iron oval construction full of French red wine from the 30’s... approw 3 meters below ground... Most were sour, some were beyond amazing...
