COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Oh good god yes. This was wonderful. First aroma was straight black coffee at 5am, with a good amount of head for an Impy and carbonation to go with it. Pour looks good, but not chunky like some other big imperial stouts. Huge rich taste of coffee beans, massive chocolate everywhere and some hidden cherry and vanilla flavors. Hops that i can almost pick out underneath the huge malt bill. A slight burn in the aftertaste, which i cant tell if its the alcohol telling me its there, or the burning coffee. Does not taste like a 13%-er, maybe an 8 or so, all the alcohol is well hidden under the mountain of flavor. I wish i could pick this apart more, but god himself couldn’t tell you all the flavors in this. Syrupy on the mouth and clings to the glass just a little bit. The only thing lacking is the palate really, but its almost lacking in a good way because of the ease you can drink this. A great beer that doesn’t need any mellowing. Awesome.

2xBottled, Silvester 13/14 + LOT:30-06-HH, consumed 01/2015, compared to draft BBF 2013 and 2014: this high-octane parade horse by Struise benefits from being drunk fresh & creamy on draught: the rich and creamy double chocolate and ice coffee malts were markably dried out in a modestly aged bottle, thining them out while adding little surplus complexity. - Nice choco mousse head. Simple in aroma, powdered cocoa at best, goes over into dry cocoa, liquorice, a hint of bayleaf, aniseed dry yeast and dry caramel. As far as Struise classics go, I would prefer the rich yeast complexities of Pannepot to this amped, relatively straightforward "royal" stout. Bonus points: hiding alcohol and keeping dry a stout this massive. Note: score is a mean of draught and bottled.

2 bottles (BB 2018, BB 2013) at the overpriced beer tasting, thanks for sharing guys! Pours dark brown-black with light brown head. The head stays for a second. Aroma is dark chocolate, licorice, fruity notes. Flavor is sweet, dark chocolate, licorice, malt. Overall: I actually preferred the fresh one, it was more punchy. Nevertheless, both versions were great.

It’s almost like everything the Struisse brewery touches becomes gold. What a wonderful strong dark Stout. It’s aroma of dark chocolate, caramel, barley and plum is incredible. It pours a thick dark beer with a black foam, a true beuuty among the Stouts.

Pitch black with a finger of dark khaki head. Smells of cherry chocolate, raisin, plum, tobacco, coffee grounds. Taste is bitter sweet coffee, bakers chocolate, espresso, coffee grounds, leather, tobacco, grape, roasty. Full bodied, viscous, slightly creamy. Big stout with warming alcohol and big bold flavors. Great on a winter day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

200€ worth of beer. Two bottles opened side by side. Old one BBE 2013. New one till 2018. Both are exquisite beers. Feel like barrel aged for ages. Thick and oily. Liquorice and ash. Taste develops in your mouth - from sour to sweet and fruity. A surprising combination for and IS. Alcohol is not noticeable at all. Almost a wow beer for me. Thank you.

BRUTAL!!

330ml bottle pours a motor oil back, big foamy brown head that fades into spotty lacing. Aromas of coffee, chocolates, dark fruit (plum, raisin, blackberry) and some booze. Taste is full bodied and sticky chocolate chips, bitter coffee and vanilla that moves into oak, earth, dark fruit and anise. A nice bittering finish that lingers as the warming alcohol takes hold. Great beer!
