4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: NOV 29, 2012 $19 bottle from belgium shop online. Saved for around 6 months. Pours a dark molasses with medium carbonation and a foamy head that fades slowly. Huge and very complex aromas that explode the nose with roasted malts paired with candied malts, big tobacco (like someone left a cig bud at the bottom of the bottle), dark cherry, chocolate, wood chips, toffee and some others that I can’t find because of the high complexities! Extensively powerful and complex are the flavors next to the aromas! Tobacco, chocolate, and plum upfront with some touches of dark cherry, fig, slight coffee, wood, and some candy like yeast. Leaves a strong smoky aftertaste. Theres a slight hint of sour mixed with the stronger bitterness and medium sweetness. You can just smell the authentic 100 percent belgian products and craft that went into this beer. The best imperial stout I’ve smelled. Alcohol only comes in the nose a little! Must, must, must be drank very slow and siping in long intervals to truly appreciate the wonderful complexities this has to offer otherwise the alcohol and smoke will cloy the other flavors. Fantastic!

Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. First thoughts are super smooth with a roasty aftertaste. Alcohol is hardly noticeable. The malted base is really smooth with a mld but complex spice palate. Quality.

Erg aangenaam bier.

Oh Boy. The infamous Black Albert delivers once again. This pitchblack, creamy beer with a small lightbrown head, may well be one of the best Stouts out there. The taste is sweet, but not sugarsweet, more like caramel/toffee-sweet. The aroma is deep and complex like the deepest levels of the black sea: plums, raisins, coffee and dark chocolate. A longlasting and bitter, roasty aftertaste is the bonus that comes with this dark horse. Marvelous!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - 330ml. Pours an opaque black body with low carbonation and a fair brown foamy/creamy head. Rich malty/hoppy aroma with licorice, cocoa, and yeasty hints. Alcohol is not agressive at all. Its complex, robust taste carries roasty, cocoa, and wild berries notes. Texture is soft, oily. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Wow!
