4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Draught at Ebenezer’s Pub in Lovell, Maine. Incredibly dark, opaque, with a moderate foamy brown head. The beer coats the glass with some deep, dark legs and leaves a touch of residue behind. Full and rich aroma with a good chocolate presence which was offset by dark fruits, floral hoppiness, light roastiness and coffee, and just a touch of alcohol. Flavor is very complex and it all melded together wonderfully. The front end starts out with some serious chocolate, followed by some lighter roasted notes that give way to the very green, yet not very bitter, hops. The finish has some slight bitterness that was offset by some coffee. The body was full and very rich. It drank wonderfully though, and you would only have an inkling that this beer is as strong as it is. Decadent stuff. Thoroughlly enjoyable on all fronts. A big thank you to Chris and Jen at Ebenezer’s for giving me the chance to have such an awesome treat

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Dark fruit, cocoa, coffee smell, classic dark color with a brown head the malty, bitterness is perfectly matched, on the swallow it is sweet chocolate, then the bitter coffee and hops come in. Complex as hell, one of the best stouts out there!!!!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20

330ml bottle at home shared with gf. Vintage 2015. BB 05/2020. black color, dark coffee-colored head. pours quite oily. smells of coffee, light charcoal but with a sweet twist, earthy, light glue note, bitter chocolate. lovely smell. full body, soft carbonation, oily / quite creamy mouthfeel. tastes of coffee, a bit lactic / creamy, bitter chocolate, some wood, some dried fruits, earthy notes, light sourish, a bit glue-like (probably from the alcohol), nice roast notes, also some banana and resins. finishes with roast, alcohol, earthy and light notes of charcoal. lovely stuff, surprisingly drinkable for the freshness (especially compared to other imp stouts).

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Texture liquoreuse. Trouvée à Roby - Menin.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330 ml bottle 2015 vintage from Etre Gourmet.
Pitch black body, with a big, dense, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of dark chocolate, espresso, cocoa, caramel, some vanilla, dark fruits, wood, slight tobacco.
Delicious taste of espresso, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, tobacco, some liquorice, dark and dried fruits, citric hops in the background.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes smooth, quite dry, roasty, a bit bitter, with coffee, cocoa, tobacco, some liquorice, some fruit notes and a subtle alcohol warmth.
Very tasty. Drinks suprisingly easy for the ABV, which is almost completely hidden. Really smooth and complex, with a wonderful balance between roasty, sweet and dry, even with a moderate hop presence. Overall still not among my favourite Imperial Stouts, but my favourite Struise beer so far.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Gorgeous dense aroma, full of chocolate, chocolate liqueur, dehydrated plums and cherry notes and a scuff of alcohol in the end. Smells beautiful. It’s pitch black beer, with dark brown nice head which drops quite quickly. Full, almost thick body, spill around your palate and leaves a massive punch of dehydrated fruits in chocolate. It’s not bitter very much but it ain’t very sweet as well. You can feel the touch of alcohol, but it’s very pleasant. It warms your stomach too a bit. It appears for me to be a bit over carbonated, which makes it more runny than I prefer. In overall it’s just a huge and awesome beer!

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
almost black colour, 1 inch cremy borwn head; aroma of cocoa, dried cherry and plum, coffee, some herbal liqueur and woody notes;taste is even more intensive and complex: cocoa, coffee, dried cherry, plum and some berries, oatmeal cake, vanilla and some sourish notes; AMAZING! Not a typical imperial stout with this Belgian-beer sourness, but definitely one of the best imperial stout I’ve ever tasted
