Black Albert strong stout inspired by the British Imperial Stout tradition as revived by American microbrewers. Described as a "Belgian Royal Stout" and made with ingredients of only Belgian origin. Bitterness of 100 IBU, deep black color of 160 EBC.

Bottle: Dense black body with a khaki foam that recedes quickly to a collar. Smells like chocolate covered raspberries... Or blackberries, I guess. Lots of berry juicy, chocolate, roast, & burnt caramel. Flavor has a sharp berry skin note to it up front, as it lingers into a softer sweetness from the chocolate malt. Notes of molasses, burnt brown sugar, soy. Finishes like chocolate covered raspberry candy with a touch of roasted malt to offset & balance. Pretty warming & heavy. Good stuff.

Bottle - Dark chocolate, some light blueberry and barrel notes. Jet black with a nice brown head. Deep dar roast, bitter chocolate and some bitter and Berry notes. Blueberry is subtle.

75cl bottle, served in Tulip. What an amazing brew, only the aroma seems "average" for a beer of this class. Blackberries are so well integrated, just a slight fruity touch enough to make it special. Wood, coffee, hops, long and pleasant dry aftertaste...and the rest is magic till the end.

Poured from bottle thanks AdamJackson. Dark chocolate color with lacey tan head. Aromas of oak berry port and roasted malt. Taste is sweet with a nice mouth feel and a warm lingering burn. Awesome.

Draft at Sergio’s. Blackberry, wood, light chocolate malt, and alcohol aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Sweet blackberry, chocolate-caramel malt and mildly bitter herbal alcohol flavor. Great blending and body. Great.

Pours thick dark black with a small beige head that is gone quickly. Aroma and flavor bring such pleasant, sweet, and delicious fruity berry notes so perfectly blended with the imperial stout roasted malts. The berry is dominant, but exactly as it should be. This is as delicious and perfectly blended for a fruit stout as it gets!

a bit o a gusher which gave me pause as this is an expensive ass beer. I was using what seemed like the most interesting of the damnations to see if any others are worth the $45 price tag. This was enjoyed, and if it was $10-12, I’d go back, but it’s ridiculously overpriced for a beer that was quite good but nowhere near mind-blowing. Not sure if the sour/tart aspects were on purpose or not as I have no basis to compare. was expecting more sweet and decadent. may have been infected...who knows? But for $45 I ain’t trying again. almost like a sour stout, the blackberries and to a far lesser extent the port comes through nice. I’d have liked it better more decadent and less astringent.
