# 60 Struise. 33 cl. draft @ ‘t Antwaerps bierhuiske. Thx for the tip nbutler11 – been wanting to try this one. Pours black with a huge, very creamy mocha head towering over the glass. Nose is incredible, real blackberries, not additives or fake or anything but real pure of blackberries, like smelling the fruit itself with some mocha, chocolate, sweetish jam and some booze. Smell beats taste here, taste is clearly different and influenced by the berries but less defined taste of the actual berries, bit boozy, chocolate fudge with some blackberry jam, thick malts and caramel, sweet, boozy, very thick coffee, liquorice,… Very thick body – lovely although I preferred the whisky BA version honestly. Still doesn’t top my fond memories of the base beer which doesn’t make this a great beer in it own right, a bit too harsh almost for me. Is this a future reverse society beer, one of their many recent one-off or is this aging for a future release I wonder?

The pour is black as hell with a big filthy huge head. Nose is still big chocolate, coffee and cherry as it is usually with the normal albert but if I try real hard I can get some other berry aromas but it’s not at all big like I thought it would be. The taste is definitely sweeter than normal alber but still has an amazing balance. The mouthfeel is where the big difference is, like drinking a cloud. So smooth and soft on the pallet, the body is enourmous and the finish is long. My favorite version.

(Draught at Monk’s Porterhouse, Stockholm) Black colour with lasting, creamy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee, chocolate, blackberries, port wine and cacao. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, coffee, cacao, more chocolate, hints of blackberries and port wine, and a generous roasted bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a thick, rounded and velvety mouthfeel. Fairly sweet. Brilliantly balanced with a touch of alcohol shining through (but not really 13%). Sounds strange, but it’s heavy and smooth at the same time. Urbain shows he’s the master of the massive stouts. Fantastic beer!

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2013 goddamned this is a good one ! draft @ t schooltje how can i describe this taste? i don tget berrys in this at all. more like a perfectionet black albert. some extra layer of complexity to it.. more subtile, more sweetness. try to get this one and check it out yourself ! edit : it hurts like hell to downrate a struise beer thats good! but yesterday i’ve had a 33 cl glass- of this ( in stead of the 15 cl i’ve got when i rated this ) and 33cl is just simply to much of this .. its still very good though! or maybe its like ships always sais, almost any imperial stout tastes less when you have it again. still, a VERY nice struise though! just need to place pannepot above this , due to its always-good factor!

Clear black beer, big creamy beige to brown head, very stable, adhesive. Aroma: mocha, coffee, little sourish, caramel, dusty, hint of vanilla. MF: soft carbon, full body, creamy texture. Taste: pretty sweet, caramel, fruity, mocha, dark chocolate, berries, ltitle sugary. Aftertaste: cohcolate, mocha, quite some caramel and a little sour touch. Wow, this is the real deal!

sampled at ’t Schooltje - pours pitch black, dark brown head with purple hints. Aroma is lots of the typical Black Albert stuff but with an edgier crisper character. Make me think of Sachertorte (choclate cake with a tart fruit jam and covered with chocolate). Crispiness comes back in mouthfeel and taste. As always a top Struise beer!

Draft @ ‘t Schooltje, merci Carlo.

Aromas are powerful: chocolate, coffee and blackberry. Taste is very interesting: fruity, roasty and rich. Too sweet, a bit heavy for my taste.

Draught@SBWF2012. Black colour, small brown foamy head. Aroma is liquorice, toffee, some alcohol and dark berries. Flavour is toffee, liquorice, some slight alcohol, spices and mild floral notes. Thick and quite pleasant.
