Bottle @ Armin’s house, courtesy of arminjewell. Pours a black appearance with a dark brown head. Rich plum / dark grape, vivos, dark chocolate, berry, roasty aroma. Rich cocoa, light coffee, quite herbal roasty, berry, plum, dark grape flavor. Slightly boozy but not bad. Quite tasty.

On tap at t’Bierhuyske. Black body with a light brown rim. Soy sauce, roasted raisins, hints of smoke and overall loads of roasted notes fill the nostrils. Mouth confirms the roasted notes and adds vanilla, sweet mocha and what I can best describe as a black berry reduction. It drinks full bodied, oily and smooth.

Draft at Redlight. Pitch black pour with a creamy mocha head. Nose of thick roast, licorice, dark chocolate, blackberry, figs with hints of ash. Flavor is thick a roasted malt, dark chocolate, figs with an acidic and faintly tart berry balance on the back end. Heavy bodied and smooth carbonation. Nice stuff.

Black pour, tan head. Nose is dark chocolate, some berries, port, roasted grains. Taste is big dark chocolate, some espresso beans, roasted malts, and prominent berries. Really impressive. One of the top 2 or 3 fruited stouts I’ve had. Only issue is the mouthfeel is pretty thin for a big stout.

Bottled. Pours black with a medium sized, tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, berries and coffee. Sweet flavor that ends up bitter and with some alcohol. Full bodied, creamy to oily texture and soft carbonation. A great impy.

Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Pitch black, deep brown head, large, nice lacing.   Rich roasted malt nose, a touch fruity, could be Blackberry.   Has a slight sweet alcohol nose that does seem a little Portish.   A bit more berry like on the tongue, sweet, roasty, with a strong malt base.   I can see the Port aging in this as well.   Not a complex beer, as it seems very well blended.   Smooth, soft roast, a bit of Blackberry but not too much, with a soft Port like alcohol presense.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly full bodied.   Faint astringent note on the backside.   Residual berry like notes on the finish, along with soft alcohol, roasted malts, and Port.   Pretty tasty, soft, easy to put back, blended well.

Draft at Brouwer’s, Seattle. Part of Big Wood 2013. Pours a very dark purple-black, little tan head. Aroma is huge, rich with port and raspberries. Rich, boozy. Body is surprisingly lively, and hot. Finish is slightly roasty, lots and lots of wood, maybe more than anything else I’ve had. Good but not jaw-dropping. Finish exceptionally long.
