On tap at brewery into snifter. Oostvleteren. Appearance: black liquid tan head. very long retention Aroma: Berry is most present. Chocolate. coffee spicy. Taste: sweet and bitter. Palate thick and velvety. Coats your whole mouth. OverAll: delicious beer. Intensely strong. A little bit heavy on the berry. I wonder if it would become more balanced over time.

Dark, deep, with a rich purple hue. A touch of sweetness, strong roasted malt, complex fruit flavors that last for what seems like a minute after each sip. Blackberry and chocolate fight for the finish. Spectacular.

Bottle, shared at RBAG 2015 by dfearnly. Near black, hearty black malts, spicy, with understated berry character. Not sure whether the berry adds much here, but such a great beer anyway!

Black Albert strong stout inspired by the British Imperial Stout tradition as revived by American microbrewers. Described as a "Belgian Royal Stout" and made with ingredients of only Belgian origin. Bitterness of 100 IBU, deep black color of 160 EBC.

Bottle: Dense black body with a khaki foam that recedes quickly to a collar. Smells like chocolate covered raspberries... Or blackberries, I guess. Lots of berry juicy, chocolate, roast, & burnt caramel. Flavor has a sharp berry skin note to it up front, as it lingers into a softer sweetness from the chocolate malt. Notes of molasses, burnt brown sugar, soy. Finishes like chocolate covered raspberry candy with a touch of roasted malt to offset & balance. Pretty warming & heavy. Good stuff.
