On tap. Black with a creamy light brown head. Beautiful rich floralchocolate bread, black berry, and alcohol aroma. Thick silky velvety palate. Tastes of chocolate, raisin, cherry, black berry, port, and oak with a rich dark chocolate finish. Outstanding.

On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe for Big Wood 2013, pours jet black with a beautiful small brown head. Aroma of blackberries, roast, vanilla and whiskey - super complex. Flavour is orgasmic, with blackberries, vanilla, chocolate, and light whiskey overtones. Incredibly complex, smooth and amazingly well-integrated. Soft and velvety on the palate, with everything in great proportion. Phenomenal.

75cl bottle shared in a Struise glass. Pours (glugs) a nice black colour with a generous (very) dark beige head which lasts well throughout the drink. Aroma is rich malts and dark fruits. Taste is less rich than Black Albert and less complex than Coffee Club but has a style all of its own. A lot fruitier than its other "Damnation Counterparts" that I have tried. Very much an Imperial (or Royal as Stuise label it) stout with a huge mouthfeel (as you would expect); the blackberries are not easily identifiable however, the lighter, fruitier quality imparted is clearly reflected in the end product. Gives the impression of being easier to drink than other Damnations (somewhat unexpectedly compared to VIII) which is not to its discredit. Unmistakably Struise in its style and execution and an unmissable edition of the Black Damnation series. Cannot wait for the next instalment...

# 60 Struise. 33 cl. draft @ ‘t Antwaerps bierhuiske. Thx for the tip nbutler11 – been wanting to try this one. Pours black with a huge, very creamy mocha head towering over the glass. Nose is incredible, real blackberries, not additives or fake or anything but real pure of blackberries, like smelling the fruit itself with some mocha, chocolate, sweetish jam and some booze. Smell beats taste here, taste is clearly different and influenced by the berries but less defined taste of the actual berries, bit boozy, chocolate fudge with some blackberry jam, thick malts and caramel, sweet, boozy, very thick coffee, liquorice,… Very thick body – lovely although I preferred the whisky BA version honestly. Still doesn’t top my fond memories of the base beer which doesn’t make this a great beer in it own right, a bit too harsh almost for me. Is this a future reverse society beer, one of their many recent one-off or is this aging for a future release I wonder?

75cl bottle shared at Strasy66 tasting, CBC Islington. What a great beer for my 1500th rating! It pours a pitch black body with a large mocha head. Aroma is big and bold on roasted notes. Lots of wood, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Some tart notes from the berries too. Taste is beautiful and balanced, with big bold roasted and chocolatey notes sort ounces by a smooth vanilla and port wine silkiness. Berry tartness in the finish to help the drinkability of this beast. Thick and creamy mouthfeel with good carbonation. Great beer.

Tap. Intense fruitiness. The aroma bristles with dark fruits and dark chocolate. Strong, slightly acidic and bitter flavour. Extremely long and complex finish. Wow!
