COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation II is yet another blend with the use of Hel & Verdoemenis from Brouwerij De Molen. This time a level more complex than BD I. 50% of Black Albert was used that matured for a while on whole coffee beans out of a craft Columbian coffee plantation. 25% of H&V was used that aged for 6 months on JD barrels at Struise. Another 25% of Cuvée Delphine was used.

Beware: labels are the same, taste however isn’t. Some bottles are recognizable because of he handwritten 2 on them.

750 ml. bottle. Somewhat of a gusher. Pours black with a big mocha head. aroma of malt, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and dark fruit. Something not quite right with this bottle.

Drank with Thijs and John at the bierlokaal at Struise brewery. Did not like it that much. Watery beer. Very thin. No explicit taste. However, nice dark color and okay smell. When you keep the beer in your mouth for a while, a good taste emerges.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Hell yeah, the star of the show from my taster flights. "Mocha Bomb", I like the sound of that... Nearly pitch black body, just some slight translucent brown around the edges. Thin ring of little khaki head. Awesome massive coffee aroma, yes, I love this type of thing... Some dark chocolate. Roast malts. Moderate sweet taste, moderate bitter. Light bite in the finish, but it’s reasonable for 12%, I think. No burn or excessive warmth or anything. Very light carbonation, nearly flat. Lightly slick. Alcohol makes for a lightly dry finish. Good long mocha aftertaste is enjoyable. Great stuff to try, I really enjoy the big coffee aroma, love coffee flavor in my beer. But its pretty light in carbonation, a little more could have amped this up a bit. It’s nearly flat. And besides the coffee, the light belgian influences in the background aren’t doing much for me.

On draft at Ei8ht Ball. Looks solid; no real visible carbonation though. A pretty still, fairly opaque dark cola with no lacing whatsoever. Smells of dark malt, mild whiskey, and a touch of tartness. Tastes like it smells with some coffee notes too. Less tartness though. Average on the palate. Underwhelming, especially for the price.

Draft pour. Pours a thick, inky black with no head of foam. The aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, burnt toast, vanilla beans. The taste is more a dark bitter. The coffee notes remind me a lot of what a Vietnamese coffee tastes like. Thick mouthfeel. Low carbonation. This one kicks some ass.

On tap at Brugge beer festival 2014, Belgium. A black coloured pour with a small beige head on top. Roasty, malty, boozy, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee, boozy, sweet and rich. Lovely Imperial Stout from Struise.

75cl butelka. OCZY : piwo jest brązowo-czarne ze sporą, mahoniową pianą o cieniutkich pęcherzykach. NOS : ewidentne aromaty czarnej czekolady, alkoholu i żywicy. Również świeżo parzonej kawy i tak jakby niedojrzałych śliwek? Orzechy, trochę toffi i wanilia. Czuć aromat beczek po whisky albo bourbonie. Chrupki serowe. USTA : mocno gęste piwo o konsystencji tłustej śmietany. Lekko gazowane.

Draft at ChurchKey. Pours black . Aromas of coffee, caramel, and whiskey. Tasting notes of coffee, light whiskey, dark chocolate, and dark fruit. Coffee is somewhat light on both taste and aroma. Medium-light body, slightly warm finish but very smooth for the ABV. Would like a bit more coffee but a good blend overall.
