COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation II is yet another blend with the use of Hel & Verdoemenis from Brouwerij De Molen. This time a level more complex than BD I. 50% of Black Albert was used that matured for a while on whole coffee beans out of a craft Columbian coffee plantation. 25% of H&V was used that aged for 6 months on JD barrels at Struise. Another 25% of Cuvée Delphine was used.

Beware: labels are the same, taste however isn’t. Some bottles are recognizable because of he handwritten 2 on them.

Bottle shared by bu11zeye. Poured a dark brown, ruby highlit body with a lasting tan head leaving good lacing. Aromas of mocha, CRAZY amounts of espresso, cocoa and creamy sweetness. Flavors of fresh coffee, bittersweet cocoa, mocha, oaky, light whiskey and a great long bitter coffee bitter finish. Very nice, coffee forward imperial stout.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is heavy on the coffee, along with some roasted malt and some cayenne pepper. The flavor is definitely strong on the coffee. I also get some roasted malt and chocolate, but the coffee is the star of the show. There are also some oak notes in the flavor from the oak aging. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice beer that I am glad I got to try.

Bottle. Motor oil, tan head, roast in the nose. Taste is sharp, the liquor cuts through in the beginning, mellowing out into a rich coffee roast aftertaste. Nice variation on the Black Albert.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu) The beer poured pitch black. Its head was medium sized and brown. Aroma had burnt coffee and burnt malts. Palate was full bodied, warming and dry with quite high carbonation. Flavours were coffee, ash, burntness, hops and btiterness. Aftertaste had mild sourness and lot of coffee. I do like coffee and sometimes I do like coffee flavoured beers but the coffee in this beer tasted like it had been forgotten in kettle for long time.

Pitch black beer, rocky beige head. Big beer, insanely coffeyish nose. Sour coffee beans, tar, salty soy sauce. Dark chocolate and balancing bitterness in the finish. Syrupy, thick palate. Hides alcohol totally. Surprisingly drinkable.

Bottle. Pitch black pour with a big fluffy tan head. The aroma is coffee dominated with notes of hard roasted malt, dried dark fruit, light chocolate and bourbon. The flavour is light spicy with lots of roasted coffee notes. Hard roasted malt, light chocolate, toasted caramel, oak, vanilla and some vinous thing. Long coffeish finish. Lovely and complex.

A: Pours black with a thick dark brown head and very nice lacing, especially given the quite high abv on thi. S: Loads of coffee along with hints of vanilla and plenty of roasted malt. T: Again, coffee dominates. Some more chocolate comes into the mix. A bit of roast. M: Quite thick, yet still fairly smooth and remarkably "unhot" considering what it could be like. Bottle. Pours a black abyss with a tan creamy head. Boozy strong malty chocolate notes, espresso tones, and coffee beans. Hints of coco and chocolate with a light milk note. A great flavor just to dam hot.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2011 Details: 330ml bottle, about 1,5 years old.
Tasting notes: When you open it is as quiet as can be, however once you pour it even very gently, there is a head creation that can only be compared to a gusher. It gives the beer a massive brown head which is very solid, creamy on top. The aroma’s first impression is fine roasted coffee, later the coffee nose becomes more mellow with some sweetness, slight dark fruit. The flavor is a bit sweet at first and then gets a strong roasted espresso flavor which results in a dry finish. However the beer becomes more mellow as time goes and gets a full sweetness with some chocolate notes that blend very well with the coffee, which is the most expressive of the flavors. The coffee finish is also not overly roasted, but fine and gentle and has a slight acidity to it and also a slight fruitiness. In the mouth the full body leaves you with a flavourfull coat that stays for quite a long time. The coffee notes stay apparent. If you leave the yeast in the bottle and drink it at the end, you’ll get a gigantic shot of overly burned sugar and roasted malt with a charcoal finish, quite interesting, but not for the faint of heart.
Conclusion: A not overly powerfull and complex beer in the good meaning, it gives rise to very noticable and gentle flavors that stay for quite a long time and makes this beer very enjoyable.
