I originally had this at Stone 14th Anniversary in August and loved it so much I ordered some. Love the coffee aroma and hint of chocolate flavor. I donít remember the bitterness at the end when I had it at Stone anniversary but its still great.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
330 ml bottle, best by March 2015 and consumed in September 2010. Like the others in the series, you simply canít pour a more menacing looking stout. Pitch black and impenetrable, the Łber dense body supports a tall, slowly deflating head of rocky, light brown froth. Sheeting breaks apart into sticky, bubbly swaths of lacing. The nose is rich and enticing, based in lush, bittersweet, highly concentrated cacao, with heaping loads of dark roast espresso and some creamy French vanilla. Hints of leather and tobacco deepen the earthen tendencies, while a soft kiss of sweet bourbon and toasted oak are appropriately subtle. Flavors are equally stellar, showing impossibly rich dark chocolate and roasted coffee most prominently. Charred barrel imparts a toasty, woody overtone, while bourbon plays a backup role. Though the chocolate and burnt caramel show a healthy amount of sweetness, the roast and the dry Belgian yeast do a good job of trying to balance out this beast. Thereís a good deal of earthy spice on the finish, intensified by overly active carbonation. That fizziness, along with the crackery, dry yeast is an odd counterpoint for what is otherwise a thick, syrupy body. Somehow, it seems weightier than some of the other Black Damnations. This is another nice one from Struise. Itís probably the most dessert-like of BD I-IV. Itís not my favorite of the series, but itís still a damn fine beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a super dark brown color with a big fluffy 2 finger head. I was a little surprised by the amount of carbonation but went into this one with an open mind. Nose is just loaded with coffee, dark chocolate, and some leather aromas. Also get soem notes of vanilla and lactose. Medium mouthfeel that is fairly carbonated, a little too m uch for my liking to be honest. The taste yields a wallop to the mouth of coffee and leather. Some barrel earthy flavors as well. In all honestly I found this beer farily one sided and over carbonated. Yes, I like the coffee just like most people but it just didnít work as well here for me. Love the bottle graphics though.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted on tap. Really big, pure coffee and chocolate aroma with a big, rich chocolate flavor. Medium roast bitterness; itís like drinking an 85% cocoa chocolate bar spiked with coffee beans.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Ebenezerís Belgian Beer Fest
Appearance : Pitch black not much lacing.
Aroma : Intense chocolate with strong notes of coffee. Light acidic. Light sweetness.
Taste : Intense bitter chocolate. Notes of coffee. Some hints of fruits. Finish intense bitter chocolate. Palate is oily.
Overall : Very powerful. Maybe a bit unilateral. Extreme stuff. Enjoyable and interesting but not necessarly something Iíd seek again. Glad I could try it. A bit better than the Pannepot Wild I had just before.
