COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation II is yet another blend with the use of Hel & Verdoemenis from Brouwerij De Molen. This time a level more complex than BD I. 50% of Black Albert was used that matured for a while on whole coffee beans out of a craft Columbian coffee plantation. 25% of H&V was used that aged for 6 months on JD barrels at Struise. Another 25% of Cuvée Delphine was used.

Beware: labels are the same, taste however isn’t. Some bottles are recognizable because of he handwritten 2 on them.

Maria (10214) - Thisted, DENMARK - APR 3, 2011
It’s pitch-black with a huge, brown and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, sweetness and a strange cross between chill and bell pepper. The mouth-feel is oily. The flavour is sweet with notes of sweet, slightly bitter coffee, dark fruits, light chocolate and the same cross between chill and bell pepper, but without any chili-bite. The finish is dry with a light bitterness.

A-pours a jet black liquid with tons of creamy mocha colored head and lingers for a bit. S-the nose is roasted coffee, slightly burnt, light notes of ash with some bourbon and wood undertones. dark plums in the back and a little sugary. T-the taste is more expressive than the nose. roasted malts and dark chocolate with notes of espresso and a faint bourbon and wood flavor underneath. the plums are very faint in the back and it is less so than the nose. M-fuller body and very creamy on the palate. nicely carbonated with a good slightly dry finish. D-this beer is very nice, a nice balance or roasted malt flavors and some sweetness in the back. the barrel components are quite light but they are faintly detectable.

11.2oz bottle shared by Carle at De Struise. I was really excited to try this one as it was one of the remaining De Struise beers I haven’t had...A beautiful stout, black with a huge tan head, great retention and lacing. Out of a De Struise glass the head rises about right fingers and last forever...The aroma and taste set this apart and make this beer the best of the Damnation series to date. The aroma has ton of coffee, dark chocolate, smoke, oak, vanilla and a touch of bourbon. There is just so much going on, but in a coherent symphony...The taste is just fantastic. A lot of coffee comes through but it is so creamy and balanced. Not as many flavors show but the coffee with cream is more than enough. The feel is super smooth as well. This is a beer that should be sought out.
