The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation II is yet another blend with the use of Hel & Verdoemenis from Brouwerij De Molen. This time a level more complex than BD I. 50% of Black Albert was used that matured for a while on whole coffee beans out of a craft Columbian coffee plantation. 25% of H&V was used that aged for 6 months on JD barrels at Struise. Another 25% of Cuvée Delphine was used.

Beware: labels are the same, taste however isn’t. Some bottles are recognizable because of he handwritten 2 on them.

Bottle @ Molenhof, next to the Struise brewery. Pours clean perfect black, with a bubbly beige/brown head. Small head. Incredible mocha & coffee aroma, burnt / roasted aroma, but subtle. Palate is slicky, not sticky. Taste balanced roast/bitter, some residual sweetness. Overall top class brew.

Bottle, shared at RBAG by dfearnley. Very dark brown, almost black. Rich mocha and cream, spicy undertones, fruit acids in the finish. The spicy nuances are amplified as the beer warms. Terrific.

Bottle - Dark almost soured roast. Jet black with a rich light brown head. Dark roast and sweet, very light mocha and a touch of that sourness. Although not what expected, nice.

03/04/2016 @home - 75cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte. Black colour with a nice slowly fading mocha head. Nose is huge mocha, some caramel and chocolate. Taste is lots of mocha, hints of roast, chocolate, caramel, some booze. Very complex & gentle.

Pours black, nice thin beige foam. Aroma is sweetish, dark fruits feeling light. Chocolate and cocoa nibs. Taste is also chocolaty plus has some stronger cocoa, dark fruit liquid. Coffee is bit subtle but is there and fills your taste buds with some enjoyment. Good stuff. Drinks like 7 or 8 percent beer, no way this is 13! Looks bit reddish.

The beer pours deep brown with a dark tan head. The aroma has roasty malt, oak, whiskey, anise, dark chocolate and is quite dry. It has a full rich body with a mild amount of carbonation. The flavor starts with roast, anise, cocoa, raisins, dates and some alcohol. The finish has dark fruits and anise. Thanks to gregwilsonstl for sharing this one.
