4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a snifter. Pours like oil, dark brown head which doesnít last long. No light escaping at all. Aromas of coffee, chocolate fudge, slight whisky notes (not as much as expected), bit of vanilla sweetness. The taste is bitter, very dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee/espresso, undertones of whisky-drenched dark fruit- plum and raisin. Some vanilla sweetness towards the end, with a little bit of alcohol warmth. Thick and viscous, coats the palate, almost chewy. Very full bodied and intense, and very nice indeed.

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
750 ml bottle bought at knighly spirits in Orlando. poured into a snifter. moderate brown head, pitch black color. Ho Lee Hell. Acetobacter and vinegar in the nose initially, followed by a solvent, sharpie marker kind of smell. taste is not pleasant, very phenolic and off putting, tastes worse than any high alcohol farmhouse ale Iíve ever had. This is foul and I hope the distributor or store is doing something about it since these beers arenít cheap. This could quite possibly rival Lambeak Wants Blood Orange for the worse sour beer I have ever had.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle BB 29/12/2016
Diabolical black sump oil in my glass. Holds a pale brown espresso foam.
Intense nose; vegemite, vinous plums and cherries, darkest of espressos and chocolate, treacle, vanilla, charred oak, with an earthy smokey spice.
Seriously thick, oily stuff. Low carbonation, clings to the palate, yet dries out with a big hit of acrid roast.
Delivers a big dose of treacle sweetness upfront on the body. More intense black coffee and cocoa powder, followed up by port-like vinous fruits. Lingering oaky spice and subtle earthy smoke. Warming finish with firm bitterness.
Sinister stuff, very full on. Despite it all, probably underdelivers compared to its parent beer, Black Albert.

On tap at Brugge beer festival 2014, Belgium. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, slightly bitter, rich, heavy and boozy like the others in the Struise series but still very good.
