Tap@ schooltje Oostvleteren. Zwart van kleur, crêmige kraag die snel weg is. Ruikt niet zo heel sterk, smaakt echter über. Een fruitige stout, aardbeien. peperig,volle smaak.

On tap at Sergio's World Beer. The pour is jet black, oily, with no head to be found and no lace. The aroma is heavy on dark fruits and a beautiful light maltiness. The light roast carries through from start to finish. The flavor is much of the same. There is a sweetness to it, followed by the light fruitiness and then it fades out to a nice roast. The mouth feel is extraordinarily thin. There is minimal carbonation and a lingering fruity maltiness going on. Started out well, but disappointing.

Draft at Schoolke. Pours black with little head. Aroma has lots of peat, chocolate. Taste is fortanetly much less peat, whisky, chocolate, boosy.

On tap at Antwaerps Bierhuiske. Pitch black with small brown head. Low carbonation. Nose is coffee, notes of smoke. Taste is mainly smoke, but very well balanced with coffee, dark fruit and alcohol.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2014 Bottle care of Harrisoni. I’m not sure how old this bottle is. Pours opaque very dark brown to black, thin tan brown head. Nose is a black sugar, alcohol, yeast extract, little salty, prunes, figs, little bit of oxidisation, damp basement, dark chocolate. Taste is a little on the oxidised and damp cellar side of things with heavy alcohol, yeast extract, prunes, raisins, bit of coffee grounds. Potent alcohol. Some bitter roasted and hints of bitter hop maybe, some alpha acids. It’s improving as it warms up. Hint of slight vegetal in there too.

Old 33cl bottle from Garthgargoyle, thanks man! Figured I would crack this for stout day. Anyway, thick black pour, thick mocha head with good staying power. Aroma is very spirits forward, smoke, oak, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is bitter roasted coffee, towards the middle the barrel treatment shines, oak, vanilla, ash, chocolate, finish is bitter, mouthfeel is thick, carbonation medium. Solid offering from the series, nice barrel treatment, I could see this being a bit harsh if it were fresher but seems to be drinking well right now.

330ml bottle served in a snifter glass.
A: Pours an absolutely black oil color forming a medium thick creamy brown head. Good retention and some spotty lacings left. A thin bubbled brown layer remains forever on the top
S: Delicious smell of roasted malts, dark chocolate, oak and liquor. Notes of vanilla, caramel, yeasts and flowery hops. Light alcohol can be felt on the end despite of the considerable ABV
T: Damn roasted and bitter. Dark chocolate. Notes of coffee. Evident Black Albert backbone: thanks god! Strong notes of oak and Scotch. Absolutely tasteful beer. Upfront is slightly sweet but it quickly changes to a deep roasted and bitter taste. A beer to beer geeks
M: Thick and creamy body. Slightly molasses too. Medium carbonation (not bad to such high ABV). Aftertaste is a intense roasted bitterness
O: A masterpiece., simply. As good as a Black Albert. Very intense experience. Not an easy beer, but who cares about the easy ones?! :p

Beer served in a wineglass.
Black in color with a brown head and low carbonation.
Aroma is rosted malt,whisky,coffee,oak, some vanilla and dark chocolate.
Tastes a bit sweet with whisky and oak notes.
A bit warming feeling due to high ABV.
A very nice brew in my opinion.

330ml Pours a thick silky black color with two fingers of khaki foam. Nose has layers of peat moss, bakers chocolate, roasted earth and hints of licorice and vanilla. Palate follows with nice integration of roast and smoke into a burnt cocoa bomb that is smooth and not overly sweet. Nice lingering earthiness balance nicely with the boozy peat smoke in the finish.

On tap at Cafe Sara, october 3rd 2014. Black body with a brown head. Aroma is intense roasty with peat, red fruit, toffee, ashtray. Robust taste, licorice, roasted malt, whisky, oak, dark bitter chocolate. Very light alcohol notes. Strong coffee finish with sweetness and whisky. Enjoyable!
