The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urbanís mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation III was made with Black Albert that aged for 3 months on Paul Meliaís (Mes) favorite Whisky, the "Caol Ilaís Distillers Version 1995".

33cl, bottle @ Kulminator. Oily black colour. Full body. Very complex aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate and peated whisky. Very good!

Jet black, minimal head. Strong aroma of coffee, oak and sweet dried fruits. Massive whisky in first taste - great peat and wood flavors. Huge and thick. Whoa. Very little carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - one of those little 11.2 oz guys thanks to Alen! Says best by 2015 on the bottle. Unlike the new 750ís, this is not tart at all. Infection free zone. Pour is inky black with a large creamy brown head that lasts for a looonnnnggg time and laces well. Aroma is roasty, dark sugars, licorice. Flavor follows, light sweet and heavy bitter, strong anise/licorice notes. Not much smoke or peat here, some whiskey, barrel notes and perhaps some peatiness in the finish. Fairly light bodied, high carbonation. Bitter as hell on the finish. Not bad.

750ml. Opened after BD. Black as night pour. Nose has some Belgian tartness. With a bit of smoky scotch. Taste is scotch and stout. Like if bourbon county used scotch barrels instead.

Pours jet black and minimal head after settling. Nose is tart and yeasty. Body is thick. Drinks like a sweeter imp stout. Plums dark cherry flavors. Good but state side this hog was 45 bucks. Falls a bit short.

Draught sample @Brugs BF 2014, ZA. Luring dessert aroma, leading into a perfectly designed, monodimensional bourbon-infused Wiener Kaffee with a whisp of cask smoke, making it both viscous and dry, never sticky or too sweet. Lingering, palate-coating finish, hopjes drenched in bourbon reduction.

Draft at the Sybarite Pig in Boca. (Danís birthday!!) Snifter pour. Black as night and slightly oily. Small head lingered and laced. Awesome aroma of heavy roasted malts, scotch, vanilla, spices, and Brazil nuts. The taste was interesting with the scotch barrel really knocking on the palette up front. Smooth booze and barrel on the back-end. Didnít seem like a 13% however. Medium carb, full body. Good but not a favorite.

With great thanks to harrisoni who gifted me this in London a couple of weeks ago, very thoughtful. Thanks Ian. Appearance: Pitch black, medium mocha head. Aroma: Chocolate, espresso, leather, wood, very rich, vanilla pod, a hint of alcohol. Flavour: Lots of wood and a great espresso, rich dark chocolate, delightfully light to medium mouthfeel despite how rich the flavours are, lots of dark fruit and a wonderful coffee and chocolate finish that lasts forever, magic.

Bottle sample at a tasting at our place. Thanks Tom L. Very black with tan head. Sweet aroma, very little soy and also something burnt. Umami taste, slightly salty and then sweet. Smooth, full body, alcoholic finish.

My night cap on 31st Jan 2014: a shared 0.75 litre bottle at the end of the Belgian Beer Board website bottle exchange. Good beer to finish on. Black, oily and flavoursome. My taste buds were shot by now and my notes are difficult to decipher in the cold light of day. I liked it, thatís for sure: donít really know why though! Alcoholic, coffee and oaky in flavour and smell, according to my scribble, with a full, rich depth of body. That will have to do.
