3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 25, 2010
On tap. Pours an opaque black with a small light brown head. The aroma is oozing with booze but also something reminding me of solvents or chemicals, not overly bad but certainly not pleasant either. Very full-bodied, plenty of roasted malt, again somewhat chemical - perhaps it’s just the heavy alcohol that shines through. Perhaps some age will mellow the sharp edges in this beer. 141110
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 oh6gdx (18554) - Vasa, FINLAND - APR 7, 2010
Bottled (from Struise Beershop). Pitch black colour with mediumsized reddish brown fluffy head, that disappears quite quickly. Aroma is nicely roasted malts, some alcoholic sweetness as well as mild peated and smoked notes. Quite stinging whiskylike sweetness. Flavour is roasted malts, quite peated and smoked as well with some wooden notes. Some liquorice, alcohol, toffee and dark fruits and berries have also found their way into this beautifully balanced beer. A very mellow and balanced Imperial Stout combined with some Caol Ila notes, but in a rather mellow way. As for whiskies I think Caol Ila is a borderline case for me, the 3-4 ones I’ve had have been way too aggressive and brutal for my likes.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 omhper (17449) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 9, 2010
Bottled, thanks baggio! Very black, dark brown head. Aroma of vodka and resin. Sweet and hugely full bodied with dense mouthfeel. Like dinking tar. Smokey and asphalt and petro - this is Jesus Built My Hotrod in a bottle. Inky bitter finish. I feel I just got hit by a train...

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - APR 1, 2012
Bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, bb 2015-03 Black color, with giant creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, cream, cardboard, yeast, light phenol; amazingly, later it develops fruity notes of strawberries. Full bodied, with a round mouthfeel; good flavor of roasted malt and dark chocolate, although the roastiness seems just a tad too high, but at least there is some moderate sweetness to balance it; some dry liquorice, coffee, low sourness from the roasted malts; strong bitterness; more roastiness in the final. Powerful but not fully cohesive.
