The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation IV was made with Black Albert that aged for 6 months on very old rum barrels.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2011 330mL from various samples at different stages in the bottle refermentation process. My favorite of the Black Damnation clones so far. The pour is jet black with oily viscosity. Even after a few days this develops some excellent carbonation with a massively thick tan head that leaves great retention and lacing. The nose on this in unreal: fresh, tropical, fleshy Colombian coffee with tropical fruit notes (some papaya/mango). Whoa. Taste is not roasted/bitter coffee but rather fairly sweet, bright, fresh coffee beans. Very silky mouthfeel. Awesome! 9/5/8/5/17=4.4

Tap at Paradiso Georgetown. The pour is hilarious- straight dark chocolate milk with a small, yellow head. Unreal fleshy coffee aroma, tropical fruits, super green but in a good way. No harsh coffee roast of grinds. Taste is fruity, wildly silky, fresh coffee complements a beautiful chocolate body rather than dominating it. This is some seriously good imperial stout and I am very proud to keep it up in my Top 5.

Dark brown color, almost black, with a big brown head. Overwhelming aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. These aroma’s return in the taste, accompagnied by a mixture of vanilla and candy Sugar. The aging on rum barrels doesn’t go unnoticed and elevate the beer to a sublime taste experience. Superb beer!!

Bottle at Kulminator. Black oily pour. Delicious aroma of coffee, rum and vanilla. Taste is filthy rich, with rich vanilla rum, coffee, raisin, roasted malt and a great warming finish. Fantastic.

Bottle, gusher. Dark brown with tan head. Aroma of dried fruit, caramel, yeast, tiny hint of coffee. Taste is similar, mostly dried fruit and a touch of coffee. Quite disappointing, tastes like a standard Belgian Strong

Pours deep black with a brown espresso head. Aroma of strong coffee, licorice, chocolate and roasted malts. Complex taste of roasred coffee, sweet chocolate, toffee, alcohol and some caramel candy. Finish is alcoholic warming bitter roasted coffee and sweet caramel notes. Absolutely outstanding!!!

Pours inky thick black. Big coffee aromas. Cream too. A bit of booze. Crazy good. Flavours are big coffee and sweet cream, sugar, dark chocolate. Tangy at the end. This is a flavour bomb. Almost no alcohol detected. Phenomenal.
