The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation IV was made with Black Albert that aged for 6 months on very old rum barrels.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2011 330mL from various samples at different stages in the bottle refermentation process. My favorite of the Black Damnation clones so far. The pour is jet black with oily viscosity. Even after a few days this develops some excellent carbonation with a massively thick tan head that leaves great retention and lacing. The nose on this in unreal: fresh, tropical, fleshy Colombian coffee with tropical fruit notes (some papaya/mango). Whoa. Taste is not roasted/bitter coffee but rather fairly sweet, bright, fresh coffee beans. Very silky mouthfeel. Awesome! 9/5/8/5/17=4.4

Tap at Paradiso Georgetown. The pour is hilarious- straight dark chocolate milk with a small, yellow head. Unreal fleshy coffee aroma, tropical fruits, super green but in a good way. No harsh coffee roast of grinds. Taste is fruity, wildly silky, fresh coffee complements a beautiful chocolate body rather than dominating it. This is some seriously good imperial stout and I am very proud to keep it up in my Top 5.

7/1/2010 3:52:16 PM Bottle at Delirium Cafe. Dark brown with dark brown head. Nose of chocolate and stout. Taste of chocolate, malts and caramel. Lots of coffee too. Really sweet and also quite bitter in the finish. Enjoyable.

Thanks to KBL at Osaka bottle share for the chance to try this. It was very dark with a swirling low tan head, the deep rich aroma with a taste that was full and rich, notes of oak, chocolate, coffee, vanilla. Really smooth an warming, the alcohol was noticeable but more warming in the throat than in the flavour. Delicious.

Coffee Club Black Damnation IV 13% Bottle through a trade with Seb, shared with stout lovers in Osaka. Pitch black with a rusty tan head. The aroma is deep rich malty chocolate with fruity accents. Med-full bodied with a sweet malty oak and chocolatey belgian breadiness. Delicious.

33cl bottle (2009 vintage) @ Kulminator, served in tulip. Black colour with beige head. Coffee, chocolate, and rum on the nose. The flavour is roasted malts, coffee, rum and chocolate. Nice coffee bitterness on the palate along with moderate rum sweetness. Full mouthfeel, perfect carbonation. A very well balanced rum IS, delicious.

Dark brown color, almost black, with a big brown head. Overwhelming aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. These aroma’s return in the taste, accompagnied by a mixture of vanilla and candy Sugar. The aging on rum barrels doesn’t go unnoticed and elevate the beer to a sublime taste experience. Superb beer!!

Bottle, gusher. Dark brown with tan head. Aroma of dried fruit, caramel, yeast, tiny hint of coffee. Taste is similar, mostly dried fruit and a touch of coffee. Quite disappointing, tastes like a standard Belgian Strong
