#1000. Huge thanks to Eric for sharing this at DLD. Wow. What an impressive beer. Pours pitch black with little to no head. Aroma is dense molasses and coffee. Aroma was nice, but I would have thought it would have more punch. Thick or heavy mouthfeel would be an understatement for this brew. I swear this stuff is thicker than the thickest pancake syrup I’ve ever had. I had to chew each sip like I was eating more than drinking. Taste was more molasses and coffee, char, has a subtle sweetness, a touch of anise, and finishes with a touch of alcohol. Not nearly what I would have expected. I would have thought it would have had more alcohol to it. Its really well hidden. A real treat and a standout brew at DLD this year. Thanks!

Draught @ De Struise Brewery @ The Old School. Had vintage 2012 and 2014 side by side. Vintage 2014, pours black, no head, but some oily lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, roast, wood, spirits, alcohol, dark chocolate, licorice. Flavor is very rich roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, wood, spirits, whisky, boozy alcohol. Full body, soft carbonation, rather hot alcohol. Nice, but a little raw and to hot from the alcohol to be really drinkable. 2-9-8-4-16. Vintage 2012, pours pitch black with a small light brown head, leaving some nice lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, wood, light licorice, spirits, port. Flavor is rich malty, coffee, filled dark chocolate, dried fruit, licorice, wood, spirits, port. Full body, soft carbonation, long warming finish. Alcohol is extremely well hidden for the ABV wich makes it nice and easy to drink. Stupid me had 3 or 4 (small) glasses of this baby, so damn good. 9-5-9-5-19. 020814

#1300. On tap at ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske, july 30, 2014 version. Pours thick black with a tiny dense brown head. Aroma is chocolate, raisins, caramel, soy, vanilla, oak and alcohol. Taste is very sweet syrupy caramel, dried fruits, chocolate, licorice. Finish has warming alcohol and sweet sticky caramel and medium roasted malt. Full bodied, sticky texture and soft carbonation. On tap at Struise, august 2. Tried 2012 and 2014 side by side. The 2012 version was a bit more rounded with slightly more dried fruits, otherwise minor differences.

Tap at the brewery. It is a decadent RIS? Difficult to swallow since it’s so good to keep in mouth. Wow.

Bottle as shown thanks to Gibson. Pours a motor oil with medium creamy tan head. The aroma is strong roast, smoke, booze, chocolate. Syrupy mouthfeel with strong booze, dark chocolate, smoke, roast, and nice alcohol burn. Very impressive.

beige head disappears rather fast and completely, no lacing. coffee coloured. aroma is soy, booze and candy sugar. quite dense and syrupy, lots of alcoholwarmth, alcoholsweet, candy sugar aftertaste is bitter like pure chocolate. dense body, quite carbonated, impressive there is still so much left. nice although a bit sharp boozy, some age will surely do marvels. draft @ bierhuyske

The fourth offspring of Black Damnation and a really big one this time, frozen to double strength and the strongest Belgian beer ever, as far as I know of. Creamy beige head that lasts strikingly long in view of the enormous strength, colour equally black, very thick consistency that can best be compared to motor oil. Incredibly powerful, almost narcotic aroma of coffee, charcoal, tobacco, apple, vanilla, chocolate, cacao powder, leather, soy sauce, raisins, paprika and obviously lots and lots of liqueurish and whisky-like alcohol. Very, VERY thick and deep taste, profoundly malty and extremely thick, oily, , fatty and chewy mouthfeel, very viscous as if you were drinking syrup, earthy, sourish note, in the end strongly roasted bitter, smoky and boozy, but still surprisingly drinkable and alcohol, though obviously very present, still remarkably well hidden, not even astringent. Very impressive, almost frightening beer... if you can still call it that.

Draught @ ’t Antwaerps Bierhuiske. Pours cloudy very dark bown with small tan head. Dark aroma of malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, and AAAAAALCOHOL. Sweetish flavour of chocolate, malt and coffee, barely offset by the burning but well-integrated alcohol. Bittersweet, boozy aftertaste. Jesus, Mary and all the saints! This is a fuckin’ crazy killer! It’s damn good, though... let me face eternal damnation then.

Flaska 25 cl på Monks café Struise. Delar på fyra pers. Tung svart utan skum. Bourbondominerad doft. Sötaktig i doften. Tjock kropp med tung alkohol. Aningen för varm tyvärr. Stark, len och väldigt tung. Tveksamt att den här skulle vara bättre än Delphie.

Pours pitch black brown with a rich tan head. The smell is rich chocolate, molasses, coffee. The taste is bitter dark chocolate, licorice, alcohol, ending with dark fruit and alcohol burn. Thick and rich body with fine smooth carbonation. Damn!
